Choudary Study of MM\

It is of great use in many of the complaints of women.

We may call it, like Sepia, a great women's remedy.

It is generally suited to women of spare habits, nervous temperament and delicate organization.

It acts upon nervous system especially upon the sensory nerves and causes a sort of a smarting sensation in the mucous membrane, as from pepper.

It is an excellent remedy in dysmenorrhoea of nervous women.

The pain is almost agonizing along the course of the genito-crural nerve.

It almost drives the patient to distraction.

It shoots down as low as the knee and no position really relieves.

There is a symptom, which I have found of great use in Xanthoxylum and that is a desire to take deep breath during pain. Another important symptom is a sensation of weakness in the lower limbs; the patient wants to sit or lie most of the time.

The menstrual flow is too early and it is always accompanied with pain down thighs. Ovarian pain, with scanty and retarded menses, extending down genito-crural nerves and associated with great backache also calls for .......... Leucorrhoea coming on when it is time for menses to appear is another important indication of the remedy.

The menstrual blood is almost black, coming in strings and clots and intermitting every other day and generally lasting two weeks.

............ has been used with signal success in chlorosis particularly in these cases where severe oedematous swelling had appeared in the face and the legs and all symptoms pointed to a fatal end.

The indications of course, here as well as everywhere consist of sharp, severe, neuralgic pains that radiate downwards from the sciatic crests into the knees.

Professor 0.B. Cause recommends it very warmly in after pains; ill this respect it occupies almost and the same place of honour as Am., Caulo., Chamo., Coffea, Morph. acet., Secale and Viburnum.

Arnica used after the close of labor entirely averts the after-pain.

Caulophyllum is indicated in the spasmodic pain of labor felt in the lower abdomen; it extends into the groins.

The Chamomilla pain is distressing to the utmost; it makes the patient ill-natured and irritable.

An emaciated feeble, worn-out, woman of 56, was suffering from a fibroid tumour of the size of an orange.

The menstruation had stopped sonic 15 years ago and while it lasted it has always been profuse, painful and was followed and preceded by leucorrhoea.

A fetid yellowish discharge from vagina was continuous.

The patient was nervous, depressed and sleepy most of the time.

The patient had been advised by his Allopathic physician to undergo an operation.

The patient was put on ........... 3x morning and night. In the first week there was an appreciable improvement in the pain and the vaginal discharge.

The medicine was continued 4 weeks.-at the end of which time the tumor was found much softer and smaller. In six months it had altogether disappeared.-P. C. Mozumder.

G - FLUSHES of HEAT and perspiration [2].
G - Pricking sensation; shocks as from electricity.
G - NUMBNESS of LEFT side. Left-sided paralysis.
P - Redness of ONE cheek [or both cheeks] during menstrual pains.
P - Violent, agonizing, grinding DYSMENORRHOEAL pains, not amel. in any
position; pains go into thighs or radiate over whole body, even to heart.
P - Pain in ovaries, agg. LEFT, extending down thighs.
P - Soreness of anterior part of thighs BEFORE menses.
P - Coccyx very sensitive; seems elongated.
P - Sciatica agg. in summer.
P - Headache above eyes [agg. LEFT] before menses.
Also

This remedy was proved by only 6 people, using tincture.
It seems that tincture up to 6x are the potencies used and reported
successful by Burt, Hughes, Clarke, Pierce.

Is there anyone who knows of it being effective in higher potencies?

It is used as a herbal remedy currently for neuralgia, neuritis which
specifically have shooting electric-like shooting pains, tingling and muscle
cramps. It is also effective herbally for swollen glands, fevers, intestinal
infection and diarrhoeas.

alj1 - Dysmenorrhoea - ] We have a very imperfect proving of this remedy. Generally speaking the symptoms of the urinary and genital organs are both very meager. In the urinary organs nothing of importance is noted; but in the sexual sphere, especially in that of women, we have a more extended proving.
[alj1 - Dysmenorrhoea - Female Sexual Organs. Menses too soon; scanty; the pain extending down the genito-crural nerves. The earlier the menses appear, the more severe the pain is apt to be. Neuralgic dysmenorrhoea, with profuse flow, in tall, lean women of sedentary habits; excruciating pains in the loins and low down in the uterine region. These pains are very severe and unbearable in nervous patients; who are apt to be tubercular. They begin twenty-four hours or so before the menses appear. She fears she is going to die; is extremely nervous, and sensitive to noise; pale face with dark rings around the eyes; she has dreadful headaches with sensation as if the top of the head would fly off. In this respect it is similar to Actea. Membranous dysmenorrhoea, with severe, uterine pains low down in abdomen; pains agonizing, running to the knees; she screams with pain. The flow is dark, black, clotted, prolonged to ten days or two weeks. Sometimes the face or other parts of the body become oedematous.

[alj1 - Dysmenorrhoea - ] Concomitants-Great despondency with anguish about the chest; a terrible nervous, frightened feeling, heaviness, fullness of the head, with pressure and throbbing at root of nose, and a sensation as if the top of the head would fly off. Oppression in the chest is here a nervous symptom.
