Ettiquette/Protocol question re cross-posting

Hi all,
I was trying to remember things I'd read and been told in the past regarding
treatment of severe mental disease. In my computer I find a fascinating and
in-depth article detailing the author's experiences with treating
schizophrenia, which I downloaded 10+ years ago from a list which I believe
is now dead. I don't show an e-mail address for the writer, and the only
name I have attached is "Les" -- so I can't contact the writer to ask for
permission.
So what do I do? Is it verboten to post it here? Or, can I summarize and
excerpt, giving what vague credit I'm able, or just read it an pass along
summary info as "rumor", or ??
Thanks,
Shannon
