Lots of things increased susceptibility to polio
DDT, DPT vaccine, sugar and other issues.
And there is each individual's susceptibility to begin with
DDT run off.............
Toxicity.........
And most of us had polio - it is mild in most cases - cold
symptoms..............see my webpages for possibilities that led to paralysis.
