Homeopathy in India

Hello!
For those on the lists who know something about Homeopathy in India...
I Have a request from someone who says:
"I'm writing a novel. My question is: was homeopathy practiced in any
of the rural areas of India in the late 50's? An Indian member of my
writer's workshop says, "No. Rural Indian families used Ayurvedic
herbs only during that time period."
I know that homeopathy has a long heritage in India and many of
today's Indian homeopaths have a heritage in homeopathy that goes
back 4 or more generations.
The question, then, is about the practice in RURAL areas and not in
centers like Bombay, Delhi, and Calcutta.
Any information or thoughts?

Yes, most definitely.
I know this because my Great Grandfather and Grandfather practiced
Homeopathy in Ludhiana, India, where they were born.
My heritage of Homeopathy dates back to my Great Grandfather who
practiced around 1910 or thereabouts.
If you want I can see if I can access our family records (that reside
currently in Nairobi, Kenya) for more information.

Oh yes, one other point for those that may be compelled to question.
My Great Grandfather was one of the first users of Homeopathic medicine
in India.
I will obtain more details as you have renewed my curiosity through your
questions

Rural population is not aware of homeopathy even today!
I have many patients who saw homeopathic remedies for first time! They get surprised I can so small pills can cure in small doses.
One can imagine situation in 50's.
