Julian - Just a little reminder to watch the spelling as I know you don't
want trouble. You wrote:
As we all know, "craping" is only hung when one is mourning and, I did
consider the possibility that you were mourning the loss of civility on this
list but, I couldn't imagine hanging crape over it. It is also possible that
you forget to add an "m" to the word and that you really meant to write
"cramping". That would be consistent with the cholera that was being
discussed. The third possibility is that the disease in question is known to
produce a morbid effect on the bowel and you chose to use a crude and
indelicate term to describe this effect. The word, however, would then be
spelled with two p's.
In another post you wrote:
There are several possibilities here. The first which comes to mind is the
well known tendency of modern royals to dilute their bloodlines by marrying
commoners and, then, to still expect to succeed to the throne. Really! I am
glad you noted here that the act of diluting and succeeding is a corollary
but not a requirement. Maybe these snotty royals will notice and start
dating their own kind and leave us honest people alone. A second, though not
as obvious possibility, is that there has been another misspelling. Or,
perhaps you considered writing "succussion" and, in an attempt to shake
things up on the list and to see if anyone is really paying attention, you
wrote "succession". You can be sly, so this is a definite possibility.
Just so you won't think that I am being picky, I would like you to know that
I have seen other misspellings from you in the past, sometimes as many as
two or three in the same post (and once there were two in the same
sentence!!) but, until now, I have held my tongue. I can't allow you to go
on misleading the others on this list, however, as many of them believe
that, just because you wrote it (or spelled it), it must be true.
Well, JW, I just wanted you to know that someone is watching and that it is
unlikely that you will often get away with these types of things. And,
consider this . . . When people write in and say mean things about you, it
is possible that person is taking issue not so much with what you say but,
how you spell it!
If you ever need any help with spelling in the future, please let me know.
That's what I'm here for.
