PATRICIA Dr Kalokerinos & others on SIDS/VitaminC

Hi Sheri,

Just a thought -- I understand your statements about "rebound effect" not
being true because either you "have enough" or you don't... But, whatever
the mechanism and actual meaning, there does seem to be an *apparent* effect
where, when one goes from huge intake to none-small, deficiency symptoms can
*temporarily* appear and then disappear as the body re-adjusts; your
write-up said that it's not that the body "returns to normal" after the huge
megadose, but rather that it returns to "survival mode". I understand that,
but still it can *appear* that there has been a "rebound effect" -- I've
observed this often in myself.

So, if the baby is being flooded with (let's say "adequate") vitamin C in
utero, then after birth can obtain only the limited amounts that filter into
the breastmilk, this will have the effect of a sudden and huge drop in the
amount of vitamin C, which I would think could cause effect similar to what
I called "rebound". I suppose one could also say that once "adquate"
vitamin C is withdrawn the baby goes from "state of healthy functioning"
that it had in utero, to the sub-clinical deficiency state that most of us
share.

It would seem odd, tho, for breastmilk to have this "pre-programmed
deficiency". To ponder...

Read the reports which show work on the fact that, in some cases, megadoses
of vit c weren't getting through and the babies showed signs of scurvy. Self
evident.

How does that answer this.....
I'm concerned because you said there were breastfed babies showing signs of
scurvy while being breastfed BECAUSE of the mother's ingestion of megadoses
of
vitamin C in the pregnancy

I hear you all on the Vit C filtered out somehow but the concern was tthe
above statement
