Joy, I'm especially interested in your bit about aristolochia. I find
almost *nothing* on this remedy (Murphy II has a little; nothing else but a
few rubrics in my old-ish version of MacRep/RefWks). Could you -- and
anyone -- tell me more and/or direct me to more information?

What differentiates arist-cl from sepia, and what is the main thing to make
you think of it?

Obviously the name is suggestive - used to induce birth as well as to
regulate the menses, hormonal imbalance, concomitant joint pains, some
affinity to the respiratory system, bladder and bowels. Tubercular types.
Very chilly remedy.

It is a worn out remedy like Sepia is, nervous and anxious especially about
the future, weeps easily (Sepia will often weep when telling of her sx),
easily depressed, want to be alone, rejects help and company, a sense of
isolation and oppression. Anorexia will prevail, even though the MM's say
this is usually a plump remedy - lots of eating issues if that is how the
case goes - all the Aristolochias have this. All sorts of menstrual problems
- ranging from absent to painful, black blood, pre and post menstrual
syndrome which can mean they feel so much better during the menses if they
have them. Limbs swell and get heavy before menses. Menopausal rheumatics.

As per Sankaran it is in the Magnolianae family = confusion and
bewilderment, strange and oppressive, so they withdraw and shut out.

The oppression justifies it being in the 'bound up' rubrics.

My Murphy MM has quite detailed info, you will also find it written up well
in O A Julian's MM (where Murphy takes his from) and I am sure someone will
cut and paste for you

I see this remedy as being 'stuck' (stasis) in a similar way as Sepia can be
and it is highly likely that someone would present with the hormonal
problems which seem to rule this remedy but we shouldn't confine remedies
like that. The person can present with any of the above. I would say one of
the strongest modalities is the >>> during menses, like Lachesis.

I don't really have time at the moment to do a thorough comparison with
Sepia so I hope someone will send you the MM on the Aristolochias.

Constitutions: Subjects of a nervous constitution, with extreme sensitivity, and who cry easily. Hormonal imbalances. Tubercular conditions of the 'worn-out' type.
