The British Institute of Homeopathy is set up especially for the
student who cannot attend an in class school as well as for potential
students, like yourself whos schedules require flexability for their
studies.
We at the British Institute are both non political as well as 'non
denominational'. We embrace all beliefs and all religions. We have
tutors from all walks of life. Muslem, Jewish, Christian, American
Indian, etc. Our tutors are chosen for their competency and dedication
to teaching our students. We have MD's, Veterinarians, Naturopathic
Physicians, Acupuncturists, Herbalists and Nutritionists who are all
professional homeopaths who tutor for us out of love for homeopathy and a
sincere desire to train competent future homeopaths. BIH is proud of
their staff of tutors. We have excellent tutors and try to match tutors
to a student's interests and strengths.

Our graduates are in practice all over the world, and our students come
from more than 75 different countries. BIH USA does not lean in the
direction of any culture, religion or belief.

There is an unofficial study group, formed by one of our students, that
has welcomed students and tutors to interact. Recently this study group
has entertained a discussion of some of the aspects of 'case taking'.
Information on how to take a case, discussions of case taking styles and
traditions, the posting of cured cases for students to practice on and
discussions on how the case was viewed, etc.

One of those discussions covered the use of dreams during homeopathic
case taking. Many homeopaths try to elicit dreams from patients to help
round out the casetaking, as dream information can often help to get to
some major issues. The discussion brought up some wonderful information
and several students brought anthropological background into the
discussion - how certain cultures view dreams, dream interpretation
(homeopaths do not interpret dreams) but it can aid in the understanding
of the case.

Since the USA is a major 'melting pot' of many cultures, traditions,
beliefs and dietary differences, it is natural that some of these
differences would come up in discussion. Discussions of religious
practices did occur and how the beliefs of the patient can affect
compliance to dietary and nutritional suggestions, as well as giving a
patient a sense of comfort and confidence in his or her practitioner.

This information was on the study group only, and is not part of the BIH
course of study. The study group is optional, and it is run by students
- the course of discussions, like this groups, are guided by the
individual members and not by BIH staff.
