2 sided case? now Lac H

Ho Patricia,

Is this like the Lycopodium who wants to sit in a room on their own but know that someone else is in the house? Or is it literally to be alone but happy in their own company as they are fullfilled?

Dear Rochelle

It is the latter.
The Lac-h type (out of balance) is outer-focused; gives more to others than
to self; "guilt is good"!
When in balance, the Lac-h type has a good sense of self; is not self-ish
but self-centred in that his/her own needs take priority. It's a bit like
the newborn whose cry most of the time means I want the breast! They
certainly make sure that their needs are met!

In this state there is an understanding that a cup can only be shared if it
is full. So from this place of self determination the balanced Lac-h person
goes quietly about doing whatever is necessary in life to grow; to be
fulfilled.
They feel nicely self-contained.

Clinically I find it makes an excellent prescription when the individual is
lost on the journey; where to from here? Being minful that a Rx is only made
on the totality, often the key mental is a declaration from the patient (or
an understanding from my perception) that there is confusion regarding how
much to give to one's own needs as opposed to those of the family or
community (the group).

hope that helps

Hi Patricia,

How would you say that this

healthy state is different from the healthy state of any other remedy? I
mean, I would think that this is a simple fact for *anyone*; is it simply a
matter of what other surrounding issues or concerns might be? (I'm still
trying to understand issues round "healthy states" of remedies...)

Dear Patricia,

Now what you have written here below explains the Symptom " Indifference to the sufferings of others" that is in the provings as I was having difficulty understanding this after reading what you had already written previously.

Thank you very much for spending the time explaining this remedy. I for one have got a lot out of it.

I have got a patient who says that she is at a crossroads and doesn't which way to turn. I wonder........ Her PC is IBS and fatigue/pain from repetitive strain injury, from her job as a radiographer who for 16 years had been doing ultra scans on pregnant women!!! She had a dream of a journey where she was left with 2 children and baby and a toddler and the parents didn't come back for them. I gave her Sanic which is having a slight effect (I have only seen her once) but I think I will look at Lac H before she comes for her follow up.

Dear Rochelle

For what it's worth........
Dreams babies; children is a rubric for Lac-h.
Dreams of birthing is more a Lac-m rubric.

I've also observed over the years that Lac-h types tend to go into
caring/nurturing professions (& in particular many work with pregnant &/or
breastfeeding women).

Sounds like it's worth a look.

best wishes
Patricia

Dear Shannon

To my mind the healthy state of any remedy type is a matter of the tenets of
aphorism #9 being able to unfold.
I think most remedies have a polarity aspect. For example, Rochelle
mentioned Lyc. At the top end this type is powerful; effective; successful;
fulfilled. At the bottom end the type is inadequate; hollow; unfulfilled so
adopts a coping persona of the arrogant bully to bluster a way through.
There is a pretense of power.

As human milk is the species specific milk it is the one that maximises
potential in the developing years. At the top end there is the potential for
Self-actualisation as expressed in aphorism # 9.In the healthy state the
Lac-h type goes out and makes things happen; is self-determined. (The cup is
full.)
In the unhealthy state there is a tendency to live one's life through
others.
The Ego is ill-defined in the latter state and well-defined in the former.

When given as a constitutional Rx ,Lac-h rights the imbalance that has
occurred as a consequence of breastfeeding not having occurred for a length
of time "deemed appropriate" by the individual. Given in high potency it
acts more on the mental/emotional level. In the lower potencies it acts more
as a true sarcode having an ameliorating effect on systems not properly
developed.

Patricia
