RO units reduce a wide range of minerals and heavy metals - BUT ARE NOT
EFFECTIVE in remvoing chemicals, cysts, or VOC's from the drinking water.
Plus RO units use 3-6 gallons of water for every gallon of drinking water
produced. Also RO units removed minerals which may not be a good thing.

Distillation - removes all minerals, including those which are beneficial
to good health, using a process of boiling water and recondensing the water
vapor. Many chemicals are also vaporized; thus, Distillation does not
removed all of the chemicals - they just go on over into the distillate water.

Solid carbon block filters remove essentially everything harmful (except
smaller bacteria & viruses & fluoride) and leave the minerals and don't
waste water. They are usually the best unless you have water that is
microbiologically unsafe or with water of unknown quality (like from a
river, etc.). Your water would require pre-treatment with chlorine in that
case before filtering (we are talking grossly contaminated here).

In my opinion, after researching water quality and solutions, a combo of
RO and Solid Carbon block is best if you have fluoride, otherwise solid
carbon block

Hi Sheri,

Do you know of a method other than RO or distillation that removes nitrates?
We weren't able to find another...

Thanks,
