Hi guys:

My father has been studying homeopathy for over 10 years now. He had
hypertension since he was 46 years old. I still remeber when he
first had it. He was at work (he owned a factory) and ws sitting on
a chair behind his desk. He called one of his customers who had been
giving him hard time paying his bills and my father was so angry
when talking to the guy. after finishing he felt as if everything
was moving in circles or as if he was turning in circular way. he
could not stand and walk since he was off balance. we helped him out
and took him to a hospital where he had been diagnosed with high
blood pressure. he had been taking the different kinds of
medications ever since. He tried many homeopathic medicines,
however, they have not cured him, althogh some would reduce the
pressure in a minor way but none were able to set him free without
allopathic pills. I became interested in homeopathy and started to
read here and there. I noticed that the way homeopathic doctors
approach the diagnosis of patients varies. Some look for the
immediate symtoms some take mental symtoms. To my surprise, one
doctor cured a guy who had cancer by simply noticing that this guy
had small pox marks on his face and infact had this disease long
time ago. He gave him a homeopathic medicine (sorry i forgot the
name) and this guy was cured!!!!
Since my father tried the common way of homeopathy, i think maybe he
should try to match the symtoms he had when he was 46 (when he had
his first hypertension attack.

My question is could somebody help me match the above mentioned
symtoms with a medicine.

Symtoms again are:

1) stress form work
2)anger and conflict with customers

He is and was overweight. Quiet but really nervous when angry.
if ask a question and u don't hear it or don't understand it easily
he would show anger. He hides his feelings and what bothers him.
he is short and bulky.

Hi Steive,

Has your father studied formally, taken classes, or is he self-taught?
Prescribing for oneself for chronic conditions is a process that seldom
works out. Even well-experienced homeopaths see *other* homeopaths for
treatment. Prescribing for chronic conditions (e.g. high blood pressure and
the emotional factors you mention) requires an ability to objectively
evaluate the many factors of the case -- and one simply does not and cannot
have objectivity about oneself. It's the old "hoist yerself up by the
bootstrap" dilemma -- laws of physics forbid that one, and the second is
forbidden by the laws of, er, "my reality is not objective reality".

Has your father tried seeing an experienced homeopath, tried letting someone
*else* find the remedy he needs? (And that process requires a *lot* more
information than you've given below; should ideally be done in person.)

deep understanding of the system on a level that he could probably

Those who want to do homeopathy as a profession really bust their
balls (women included!) studying, taking classes, taking exams, and
developing their understanding in a professional way. And even then
many just can't do it for a number of reasons.
Homeopathy IS a PROFESSION. One of the worst things about it it it
appears to be so easy that people can treat themselves successfully,
and therefore think that they can do it. This is a delusion-- and a
dangerous one, because you are messing with the health of yourself
and others.
The one thing that makes homeopathy so wonderful is the very thing
that makes it problematic.
Get your father to someone who had had the training to know what they
are doing.

I would request you ask your father to read up on the following three
remedies:

Arnica
Lachesis
Ledum
Given in 200c, these three remedies combined will not only control
Hypertension, but also relieve all associated symptoms.

This is something I use as a chief combination for the treatment and
control of Hypertension. Even my mother uses it to great success.

In this light, I have this concern also with homoeopathic first aid classes
- even thought in some cases the spinoff is positive and they go on to
learn more, many do not and they take the 'first aid mentality' with them
and tell all their peer group and it leads to homoeopathy as being viewed
as 'kitchen table medicine'

Only my thoughts and of course obviously not supported by many on this
list.

I've seen "living room table" books on homeopathic prescribing that leave me
quite queasy, as they invite the casual reader to attempt to cure all sorts
of chronic ills, offering small selection of remedies and cursory
differentials. But this is far different IMO from a well-executed acute
care course -- which I would think is the *perfect* way to give students
true respect for the tools they are getting???

pictures of what the typical "Sulphur" or "Lycopodium" looks like are
completely irresponsible, and the authors should be strung up by
their thumbs-- and I've said so, and the authors have taken umbrage,
and I've told them to get stuffed.

If we keep telling fouls that homeopathy is easy and can be done by
anyone, is it no wonder that people complain about the costs of
seeing a professional homeopath? They have been led to believe that
they can do it themselves and it is inexpensive.
We are our own worst enemy.

dear all,

i am catching up on reading this theme and am struck with the thought that something is missing in
the perspective on the use of homeopathy. as professionals, or budding practitioners, we get into
the same possessive mindset as other professions. i see how architects want to completely control
all building and have lobbied for legislation that would prohibit a home owner or a builder the right to
design and build a kitchen or refinish a basement (jobs that you couldnt even get an architect to take
on). the medical profession is the same, insisting that they control all healing. but we live in a
do-it-yourself age. one of the spin-offs is the desire of people to self-diagnose and self-medicate.
the conflict i have concerns my general support of self-sufficiency in life, especially when it comes to
avoiding the co-dependent reliance on the medical professions. but then we turn around and rail at
people for trying homeopathy on their own. i think we need to consider this human condition when
we decry the use of remedies by those who try it on their own. otherwise we begin to sound just
like all the other self-serving professions.

I think it's a difficult issue...
Those of us who object to (what we see as) over-free prescribing or to
self-prescribing, aren't objecting because of "elitist" leanings, but
because we're afraid that mis-use of this marvellous tool will lead to
damaging it ("I tried homepathy; it doesn't work", and they never realize
they *haven't* tried homepathy, only mis-applied homeopathic remedies); and
in some cases could even lead to harm for the "patient" (for most situations
this is unlikely, but from the anecdotes shared in the past, it has happened
here and there).

IMO the biggest risk is that homeopathy won't be taken seriously if it
doesn't show good results; if it's not applied properly, it can't possibly
show good results. So what kind of favor to anyone is *that*?
