I have a very curious case currently who has a
remarkable symptom which i could not find in any
repertory. The symptom relates to symmetry:

If someone touches any part of his body on the left
side, he needs the same corresponding spot on the
right side to be touched with equal intensity. If it
is touched five times, then five times. If a drop of
water falls on the left foot, he requires a drop to
fall on the same spot on the right foot. Otherwise it
leads to a dissonance for a while.

Another remarkable symptom with this same case is:
If he is reading something and a piece of paper or
something else lying on the floor comes in the line of
his vision, he cannot concentrate on his book or
newspaper till that piece is removed. He has a history
of skin diseases, typhoid and troubles in the
gastro-intestinal tract.

Any help regarding these rubrics would be highly
appreciated.

Anac has a sense of duality and hence this becomes a
possibility.
Neon! have you studied the proving of neon ? The
prover says she
has a peculiar fancy for even numbers, to the sides
left and right etc.

Dear Venkat,

Thanks for your suggestions. Anacardium indeed seems a
possibility. This patient is very chilly also and
wraps himself in a warm blanket with his sweater and
muffler on. But he covers his face also with the
blanket without any suffocating feeling. Does it sound
like Arsenic to you. Please reply. I have no knowledge
about the Neon proving. Where can i get that? Any
materia medica help on that from someone on the group.

I also looked up Baptisia Tinctoria as someone
suggested but Kent says thet Baptisia is not a very
deep acting remedy and its action lasts only for a
short time. But this is a chronic patient with a long
chain of illnesses. Can you elaborate why Baptisia may
suit the case? Looking forward to a reply.

I referred synthesis and boger's mm and verified that
anac is worse cold.
The history part -you just hold on till anac reveals
the other layers. I am presently studying the method
of old Bengali Masters of the layer treatment which
you will be well aware of.
But I will still hesitate to prescribe Anac if the
above sx is not marked and the other physicals
dominate and there also are other peculiars in this
case. Otherwise anac will be fine.
I have neon in my other computer. It was proved by
Jeremy sherr's team.

looking through radar, three rx have delusions with symmetry: arnica, cann i, haleo.
then there is the rubric GENERALS, ACUTE, senses.

others remedies have symmetry in physical expressions

maybe this will give you some ideas

This sure sounds like OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder), doesn't it? What
I recall being told about OCD is that you shouldn't spend too much time
repping their specific obsessions, because those won't tend to lead to the
remedy. So my hesitant suggestion is to certainly *look* at the interesting
rubrics that have been suggested, but if none of those remedies seems to
suit, let it go and focus on the rest of the case.

The issue with piece of paper etc. *might* be in the same category (just
part of the obsessiveness), but if it generalizes (i.e., if he does indeed
need his *total* surroundings to be in order, not merely his immediate
visual field), then I'd think it seems more significant.

Yes, this does sound like OCD, as Shannon notes. The Ullmans (Judyth &
Robert) suggest that in such cases it's helpful to find out when & why these
ritualistic behavior patterns developed. In children they are often an
attempt to create a structure that gives them an illusion of safety. So the
question becomes: why would this person need such a structure? What
purpose do these behaviors serve?

But in looking for "when and why" the symptoms started, I feel that one
should not become too stuck on the idea that the state has a "cause" in the
environment and experiences. In my scant experience with "troubled
children", one can *enter* the world with (the infant's version of) phobias,
insecurities, etc. -- good ol' miasmatic stuff (or "past life" or genetic or
ancestor issues or whatever), not "traumatic" in the usual sense. So, as to
"why" they might need such a structure, I'd *not* be looking for "what's
wrong in this kid's life", but instead at, "What's the sensitivity/suscep-
tiiblity/inner experience?"

I assume an OCD state *might* be brought on by a trauma or trouble, but my
impression is that usually that won't be the case; I think deep nervous
disorders would more likely be heavily miasmatic?

Maybe that's what you meant -- does that suit your understanding?
