INFLUENZA
Case Synopsis
By isali ben-jacob, DOM, Dipl. Hom., Dipl. Homt.
The patient is an eighty seven year old female of good normal immune integrity. She has a history of thyroidectomy and gallbladder removal, which she has managed with synthroid and dietary attention. She suffers from rheumatoid arthritis, notably of the hands.
She presented herself with symptoms twenty four hours of onset, with a fever of 102 and minor chills; myalgia, body aches; severe productive cough; mental confusion; loss of bowel control and with urgency; significant fatigue; no desire for food or beverage; pain in the left temporal head region; very red cheeks; sense of warmth of the skin of the torso and head and coolness of the hands; and eyes with the appearance of fullness and fluid. Her tongue is red and pulse is full.
My assessment is of wind-heat invasion, likely Influenza, which at this point is limited to varied tissue depths within the Inflamation Phase.

SymptomsColdFlu
Fever
rare in adults and older children, but can be as high as 102° F in infants and small children
usually 102° F, but can go up to 104° F and usually lasts 3 to 4 days
Headache
rare
sudden onset and can be severe
Muscle aches
mild
usual, and often severe
Tiredness and Weakness
mild
often extreme, and can last two or more weeks
Extreme exhaustion
never
sudden onset and can be severe
Runny nose
often
sometimes
Sneezing
often
sometimes
Sore throat
often
sometimes
Cough
mild hacking cough
usual, and can become severe
My plan of treatment is to clear the heat; release the exterior; resolve phlegm accumulation; uplift immune response; and manage the fever.
Over the next twenty four hours I administered twice a compound of several homotoxilogical compositions by acupoint injection at G30. The compositions were: Euphorbium Injeel Forte, Echinaccea Compositum, Engystol, and Gripp.
Oral remedies of homotoxicology were Engystol and Gripp hourly; a compound of Drosera Homaccord and Tartephedral alternating hours.
Oral remedies of Homeopathy were Belladonna 1m and Lachaesis 1m taken prn.
Oral remedies of Herbals were a Yin Chiao San, and two different variations of Jia Wei Yu Ping Feng San, and Qing Chi Hua Tan Wan unused. The protocol of the herbals were 3-4 gms, 4X.
The results were that the fever broke at the twenty four hour period reflecting as 101, and the patient began to consume some fluids in the form of a clear broth chicken soup. At the thirty six hour period the patient began to manifest some mental clarity and expressed that she was beginning to feel a bit better. The temperature currently is 99.5.
At this same time period the patient began to consume some solids and more fluids.
Approaching the forty eight hour mark, the patient is reflecting a normal body temperature, fatigue, decreased appetite and thirst, diarrhea and poor bowel control. The treatment will continue: Homotoxicology with Engystol & Gripp tablets 1,3X; Chinese Herbal Materica Medica of Jia Wei Yu Ping Feng San
The case will be followed with the modified herbals of traditional chinese medicine and the oral homotoxicology to its conclusion of restoration of the organism’s state of balance, which I anticipate will be over the next four to five days. I anticipate that the patient will become ambulatory during the 36 to 48 hour period.
