Rochelle's CP and PP case

Dear Rochelle, these musings have been going round my head for a while,
since you presented the case.

Hopefully, it is not too idealist to think that this case can be helped
enormously with just one remedy. Your idea of Opium, to 'waken' the case up,
has a lot of relevance, although it doesn't really address the precocious
puberty. But it would be difficult to ignore the use of this remedy.

Further to that, I like to keep these seemingly complex cases as simple as
possible, contain them somehow (although I tend to do that with all cases).
But the facts of the case have to be present and remedies shouldn't be
arrived at through theory (e.g. give a nosode for this and a nosode for that
etc). The container for this one is a triangle, i.e. 3 remedies.

Many interesting remedies came up during the discussions and Calc carb
seemed to be one at the top of the list, so to speak. Without going into
details it appeared to address a number of aspects of the case.

I can never think of Calc carb without thinking about its relationship to
another remedy - Thuja - the tree of life!! Perhaps not an obvious choice
for the case, but there is an affinity to the brain and delayed development,
the excessive or abnormal early production of body hair, the 'fixed' state
of the cerebral palsy and her having no control - as if soul and body were
separated, the strong aversion to garlic (this has to be put into context
and checked out as exactly how strong the aversion really is), lumps in
breasts as though puberty were approaching, affinity to many of the glands
and the lungs, etc.

I think it would be useful to know some medical history of direct relatives
as this might give some clues as to the appropriateness of this remedy at
some point in the case. Checking for any warts or moles might also be
useful. I also tend to place the 'racing ahead' of the PP within the sycotic
range even though this might be contrary to the extremely delayed state of
the CP but this comes back to one of the central delusions about Thuja - as
though mind and body were separated.

Thuja then leads me onto the only remedy I really keep thinking about for
this child. From all that you have written about her it shouts Pulsatilla.

Blonde, lots of lovely hair, plumpish, mild and yielding, soft and gentle (a
kind of blandness), likes to be rocked and carried, intense sleepiness,
tendency to bronchiolitis and/or bronchitis with a yellow green
expectoration, chilly and yet averse to heat, has a great affinity to the
puberty years, many eye ailments - amaurosis, paralysis of the optic nerve,
opthalmia neonatorum, etc (we don't know exactly what is wrong with the eyes
but there is obviously some disorder), lumps, swellings and growths in the
breasts before puberty, involuntary urination, and there is some affinity to
brain disorders because Pulsatilla has an epilepsy picture.

To me Pulsatilla is THE puberty remedy, par excellence, bar Sepia.

At present we only know that the PP is presenting with early breast
development and pubic hair. Even though the allopaths have informed the
parents that the uterus, ovaries and fallopian tubes are 'ready' and that
she will soon start menstruating, we have NO idea that this will actually
happen. She might turn out to have amenorrhea, puberty might happen, has
happened but the menses might not, so we cannot assume anything there. She
might get 'stuck' again at puberty, whether precocious or not.

So that is the triangle as I see it - calc carb - thuja - pulsatilla.

Anyway just a few thoughts which I hope are helpful and not a hindrance.

Best wishes as always, Joy

Dear All,
Thanks as always for your thoughts Joy.

I will have to think about the Thuja as it is not a rx that I had thought of. The Calc - I am with you all the way on but Pulsatilla in my mind she is not. My reason is that there is no clinginess what so ever. This child would be just as happy on her own with no stimulation and wouldn't complain. She probably wouldn't complain if she wasn't fed although enjoys her food. She is just not here at all unless someone goads her into being stimulated!! She only cries if physically hurt i.e. someone pulls her hair. The eye disorder is due to brain damage according to Mum not eye function. She of cause has got that from consultants. I agree with you that I must get Family medical History which the parents ignored on the phone.

I find it most odd that the child has lovely thick wavy long hair, nail are fine yet no teeth. She is like a plump sleeping beauty and only plump because she is fed. If she hadn't be loved and cared about the way she has been she would have just faded away without complaint. Hopefully my words have helped to show the picture of how I see her.

I looked at Clay again today and it is interesting but I would only use it as an intercurrent as I did once before with a Down's syndrome man. My info on it is from a Prometheus article I have a photocopy of.

Dear Rochelle, this is EXACTLY what I am referring too. She is receiving all
the sympathy she craves/needs in huge bundles. This is pulsatilla - craving
sympathy, it doesn't have to be clinging in the sense of Chamomilla, Borax
or Phos but Pulsatilla love to be held, cherished and made safe, this is
their security. Even in bed she is held together with supports. Even when
she tries to walk she gets support. I bet she is coddled to bits. Sympathy
also takes the form of being fed well - Pulsatilla's are nearly always plump
in my experience. And although you shouldn't assume what might happen to her
if this sympathy were to be taken away, it seems likely she would fade away.

When you add 'mild and yielding (without complaining) but irritable when she
is hurt' this adds to the perfect picture of Pulsatilla (imo).

But I can see we are not going to see eye to eye on that. Oh well :-(

best, Joy

ROL!!!! I promise I will think about it but that is all!!!!!! :-):-)) If she was Puls and didn't get the coddling she does wouldn't she complain somehow? This she doesn't do. Even her younger sister age 2 makes sure that no one leaves her out of anything. I gave the sister a sticker for being so good during the consultation and she insisted on me giving one to A.

fire agg. Puberty, carried amel, amicable, then this temperature
modality... . As a case within a case approach puls may get thru.
Thanks joy for clearing the way so that other sx could be seen.

Dear Venkat - "a case within a case" - I like that. I think it describes
this case really well.

Hang on where did you find "heat of the fire agg" in the case? What have I missed?

Ok I accept that BUT which part of the case too start with is the question. Also will it matter in the long run?

Rochelle, you wrote originally
Temperature - Mum says that she doesn't like the cold and appears
fine in the
heat. her hands were warm to touch but her legs under her trousers
felt cold.

A couple of weeks ago she didn't like her legs and bottom exposed by
the fire (!!) when her nappy was off . She was happier when the nappy
was back on.
