an organon feeler

Hello list....

An apology to those who have already seen this on the lyghtforce list.

In 1880, Berhardt Fincke, MD, completed a hand-written manuscript
which was an English translation of the 5th edition of the Organon.
The manuscript was subsequently edited by Fincke and published in the
Journal of Homeopathics in 1889-90. Unfortunately, only Para. 1-243
were published before the Journal ceased publication. In 1916, The
Homeopathician began publishing it again, but only got as far as
Para 52 before ceasing publication when Dr. Kent died.

The original manuscript was found by me at the NCH Library in VA. I
made a copy for my library. In 2000, Dr. Maria Mackey, who was a
student at the Sydney College of Homeopathic Medicine contacted me
about a "project" for her final year. I told her of the manuscript,
and she decided to transcribe it.

What I now have is a complete transcription of Fincke's translation
of the 5th Edition. It is ONLY the aphorisms. The introduction was
not translated. I have been able to compare it with the published
work from the Journal of Homeopathics. It differs in many places.
Obviously, Fincke edited it again before it appeared in print. In
several places, where the transcription was not clear, I compared it
with the 1889-90 printed version. Often it differs, but sometimes it
does not.
The manuscript is almost an "interlinear" translation, i.e., word
for word without trying to fit it into English grammatical rules.
Some of that "rawness" was changed when Fincke edited it for
publication.

What I am offering is the raw text of the manuscript. The book is
about 140 pages, wire bound, and a bit smaller than letter sized-- so
it will fit on a shelf. The layout follows Fincke's idea-- the
Aphorisms are on one page, and the footnotes are on the opposite page.

This is NOT a high-demand item. I was going to have 50 copies
produced (xeroxed).

The cost will be $US 30 for the book and $US 10 for shipping to the
world outside of New Zealand.

So... this is just a tickle to ask if you are interested. I'll be
printing them as soon as I get some final editing done-- where I
include the comparison between the printed version and the manuscript
for several paragraphs that were in question.

Let me know (by private mail) if you are interested, and it will give
me a sense of how many to print.

Thanks!
