I went round to the child this morning and found her sat up in a chair in from of brightly coloured children's TV. occasionally she chuckled. I tried to get her to respond to me and I think she did in her own way. There is still the constant sucking movements with the mouth. Her chest seemed fine this morning. She looked very healthy looking, not pale. When looking at something her head contantly goes to and fro. Mum explained that this is normal for the visual impairment that she has as the vision is made clearer . Momentarily her eyes would looks straight at me. I tried shielding her eyes with my arm and her hand came up slightly as if she wanted to brush my arm away. She smiled a lot and when I asked her to move her hand it appeared that she may have understood.

I gave Mum to read what I wrote to the list last night and here are a couple of corrections and additions.

re the giving of thickened liquid to drink - when she had the bronchiolitis a video fluorescent test was carried out which showed that when water was swallowed it went down too fast for the epiglottis flap to close over and a little liquid entered the lungs. Although her coughing reflex is good is it thought safer to give the thickened fluid.

The op on the hips was because the legs were stiff and crossing over pulling the hips together. Today her limbs felt stiff to me.

She has had and enjoys conductive education as from the Peto Institute.

Dear Rochelle, I have a lot of questions I would like to ask but only have
time for a couple - has the child had any thyroid tests done and if so the
results...? Was the mother taking the the 'Pill' before this child, to what
extent was the child near asphyxiation after birth and what were the exact
sx of the fit she had then, finally, how does the child respond when there
is no light or is in relative darkness.

Thank you Joy for responding to this difficult case. The child has had many tests although thyroid specifically has not been mentioned. I will ask but the likelihood is that Mum will not know. The cause of the CP is solely the oxygen deprivation caused by the overdose of the oxytocin Mum was given during the birth.I will ask about the sx of the fit but it is very possible again the Mum was not around when it happened. I also asked about the dark and was told that Mum would never leave her in total darkness as when she is awake it is important that she is constantly stimulated, hence the moving dim lights in her room at night. The child I was told prefers the light so probably doesn't react at all in the dark. Again I will ask. The second child born 12 months after this one is absolutely fine.
I have thought of Thyroidinum and also Folliculinum possibly in a 9C potency to suppress. Dr Ramakrishnan suggests that I look at Phytolacca which is his No. 1 Rx for gland problems. She is still on anti biotics and so I don't intend to prescribe until she is off those by which time hopefully I will have come to a decision.

I hesitate with this thought, as I have so little basis for it -- but
pituitary sarcode keeps coming to mind, maybe just because of the precocious
puberty (I can't find a rubric for that!), and because she seems so
out-of-whack, and because the oxygen deprivation could have compromised that
(or anything else in the brain)... Mumble mumble...

Just a FWIW thought.

they should be. How does she respond to loud noise, music, movement, smells,
bathing etc.

What does "she cries when her hair is pulled" mean. Is there any odour to
her, are sweat glands developing as well, what do the nails look like, any
thing else that is striking.
