Hello everyone,
I've been a lurker for a while but now have a question to put out on the
list.
What are the things you have done, or that you have heard or seen other
homeopaths do, that have helped them build a successful homeopathy practice?
I'm interested in:
how to promote your practice,
where to advertise
how to get word-of-mouth referrals
where to set up your office
what image most people are most comfortable with--businesslike, relaxed,
hippy, etc.
what fees you charge for the initial consultation and for the followups (and
relate this to the average wages in your area)
do you include the cost of the remedies in your charges or are they extra
I guess whatever you feel has helped you make a comfortable living at a
full-time homeopathy practice would be most interesting.
And also, what have been your biggest roadblocks in building your practice?

You set the office up where the patients are!

We had a case in point here. There is a small community called
Eastborne on the other side of the harbor from Wellington. It is a
farily affluent community. But getting into "town" is a hassle of a
drive.
A local homeopath arranged to rent rooms in a medical center in
Eastborne, and then gave a few lectures at the local library. She now
has a good one-day a week practice in Eastborne.
People are all different-- there is NO answer to this question. When
I was in the USA and people wanted a homeopath, I'd send them to the
one I thought they would be most comfortable with. You will turn off
a straight person when sending them to a "hippy" and vice versa.
I have no idea how to answer that, not being familiar with what
traffic will bear. Do NOT undercharge. Find out what an MD specialist
charges for a consult, and take it from there.
The hot dermatologist in Wellington charges $120. The experienced
homeopaths charge $100.
Most homeopaths here include it in the cost IF it is a single dose or
three doses. If giving an LM where the dose is repeated they usually
ask the patient to order it from the pharmacy (of which there are a
few reliable ones).
Lack of patients, is the one I hear.
