This patient came in this morning and is covered with what he calls eczema and what I call dry skin. This skin is itchy, he also used the word stinging, and is desquamating all over. However his oedematous ankles are down, it's notgone but it is better than I have seen it on previous occasions. The skin on his ankles looks red and Hot to touch. In places it is scabby (eczema). there haven't been any of the blisters that pop for 2 weeks and when he had them they were smaller than they have ever been.
He is totally stressed out (sic)with the itchy skin. He says he can't bear clothes on him. Any cream helps and so does hot baths of which he is having about 5 a day. The head is not so bad as it was nor are the shoulders. He thought it was all going but last night it all flared up again. He couldn't sleep because of it. "I'm stressed and Christmas is coming and I can't do anything. When I am ill I usually go to bed and sleep it off but this won't allow me to.
He is chilly with this although the skin on the feet is hot. He says he hasn't felt well since the Ars. When the eczema comes out the skin is very warm.
He talked about the angioplasty and said that the stents are metal because they couldn't get plastic ones the correct size. He has wondered if he is allergic to the metal.
He runs a temperature every now and again and takes an ibuprofen.
At night he is twitching in spasms when lying down in bed.
Dreams - of being taken away from his wife and he is shouting "No". He thinks it is to do with hospitals. He is waking up shouting "No". He is also flaying around in his bed.
He is due to go to the hospital to see the consultant dermatologist on 25th but knows that e will be offered more UVA treatment and/or steroids which he intends to refuse. He says he has the steroid creams looking at him at home but although he knows that the itching will go away when he uses it he doesn't want to.
My analysis- The Ars is pushing this eczema out and it is getting better on his head and worse on his feet where he has never had it before. From top , downwards. I am pleased that the swelling ankles are going down without outside help. All the medication he is taking is the Tildiem and aspirin. He is going to stop the aspirin for a week. What I am bothered about is his anxiety - the fact that it is so bad but then maybe I would be like this if I had itching skin all day and night. I have thought of going to Ars 6 and also to Ars 200 (gasp from Joy!!) but have decided to leave things as they are because they are still moving and I have explained this to him. I also thought of Rad brom because of the heat.
Any questions or comments? Please keep them coming.
On a lighter note I have had 2 phonecalls this more from new patients who have never felt better since their Rx. One had her nose streaming and 2 days of crying first but now can't believe how well she feels (Nat Mur)
All the best
Rochelle (who is still having problems in that I can only send mail through OE but not receive it!!. Am receiving it through my mailwasher Grrr!!! This is why it is difficult for me to join in with things ATM)
