Inspection Procedure: Homeo Colleges in Pakistan

This report will give some idea how inspection was carried out in Pakistan. After reading the press report, members can visit the picture galleries and have a look on the snaps which our “Ninja Monthly” Press Photographer took during the inspection.

Medical Officer Free Homeopathic Dispensary

NCH is comprises of twenty one members in all. This time eleven were elected through election. Five from Punjab Province, Three from Sindh Province, Two from NWFP Province and one from Baluchistan.

Ministry of Health nominates ten members. These members may be technical or non-technical. They may be homeopath or non-homeopaths. Just like a lady member Lady dr. Farzana is Ph.D in Chemistry but has not done DHMS (homeopathic diploma). One member has done Ph.D in Alternative Medicine, he is also a homeopath.
NCH has one President. The members of NCH elect their president on merit. The present president Dr. Nasir Ahmed Choudhry who is on USA tour (Philadelpia) got 16 votes from NCH members. He belongs to PHDA (Pakistan Homeopathic Doctors Association). His other team include Dr. Inam Ullah Mirza, the chairman of Homeopathic Research Committee, Dr. Naqvi (from Faislabad), Dr. Misbah (Multan) and Dr. Hafeez (Member Inspection Team) from Gujranwala City. These members belong to one association and other members are supporting him in NCH. The Council also conducts exam of DHMS all over in Pakistan and issue certificate to successful candidates.

NCH (National Council For Homeopathy) also nominate members for inspection of Homeopathic Medical Colleges in Pakistan. Ministry of Health also place inspection of homeopathic medical colleges. The health minister and health secretaries visit different colleges with their team.

In inspection team, the members from NCH and some technical members from with in NCH or outside also participate. It is the responsibility of Inspection team to check and visit different homeopathic medical colleges for improvement of standard of education in the country.

Just to give an idea. I want to present the report of two inspection committees who visited four homeopathic medical colleges.

One Inspection team visited Millat Homeopathic Medical College (MHMC) on one day and on other day, second inspection team visited Tahir Homeopathic Medical College (THMC) and GHMC. On the third day, the inspection team visited Maulana Zafar Ali Khan Homeopathic Medical College Wazirabad.

At Tahir Homeopathic Medical College (THMC), The members of Inspection Team including their advisors and technical members were received by the Principal and their staff. Prof. Dr. Tahir briefed the inspection team about their Annual Activities. Later on Vice Principal Dr. Mujahid Hussain showed all the ledgers and routine programes to the inspection team. Inspection Team visited various departments of the College. The members suggested various points how to improve the system of homeopathic education in the colleges.

The team also visited different class rooms and pathology lab. The team also recommended few apparatus to be procured for chemistry lab. The museum was full was excellent. The committee observed few faults in false ceiling and poor distempering quality. The college staff told the committee we have shortage of fund which NCH is not providing. The committee sanctioned extra fund for adm problems.

Prof. Dr. Arshad (Principal Zamindar Science College G.T road) was specially invited to suggest ways and means for the improvement of Homeopathic system. He is teaching in a Government College for the last 33 years. He is M.Sc in Biology.

The Principal Prof Dr. Hassan Akhtar of Millat Homeopathic Medical College (MHMC) and Principal Prof Dr. Idrees of Kharian Homeopathic Medical College (KHMC) also joined the group just for moral support. Both principal share their views for the improvement of educational curriculum. They also suggested to take further steps for improving examination system.

During discussion they also said Government should start a government Homeopathic hospital and College in its supervision. Dr. MAS (Adhoc Technical Advisor) said the main problem is to approve the equivalency of four year DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medical Science) course with other educational courses. Due to this problem our students have no hope to improve their further education. He said if I have achieved masters and Ph.D status then this is not due to DHMS but it was based on my other degrees. He said he will work on this project and try to contact Minister of Health Punjab for establishing a college cum hospital in the province and Vice Chancellor of Punjab University for declaring diploma equivalency.

The inspection team also visited College Hospital and homeo dispensary. After writing the report the committee departed from THMC.

In the next phase, the inspection committee in the form of convoy with their contingent went to GHM College. On its arrival the chairman of the GHM College Dr. Salim welcome the inspection team. Principal Dr. Choudhry Arshad briefed the inspection team about their College salient.

Later on, the inspection team visited various places and had look around. They saw Histology Lab and Library. The team also visited class rooms, where teachers were delivering lectures. During the Class progress, Dr. MAS and Dr. Abbasi asked few question to students. The College Principal informed the inspection team that the College has provided three MBBS doctors for teaching physiology, anatomy and bio-chemistry.

On the last day, an inspection committee comprises of new members, which joined the team from other cities visited Maulana Zafar Ali Khan Homeopathic Medical College. They inspected the new construction which was in progress in that time. Maulana Zafar Ali Khan College is one of the best and big college in Punjab Province. The Principal Prof Dr. Rabbani and Chairman of the College Prof Dr. Adnan welcomed the Inspection team. Prof Rabbani and Prof Dr. Hussain, MBBS, DCH informed the inspection team that recently the vice chancellor of Bahawalpur University with his team has already visited this college. Briefing was conducted with help of latest multimedia system.
