Learned ones,

A client (Phosphorus constitutionally...) made a rather striking statement
the other day which I thought would be a guiding statement for her current
condition.

She is a cancer patient, (Breast cancer, now in 'remission') who is in a
VERY dysfunctional marriage. She reported to me during a counseling session
(not a case taking session; I wear two hats...) that her husband is
carrying on a friendship with some local lady. I asked her whether she knew
this woman, and she replied:

"Sure, I make it a point to befriend my enemies"

So, I am wondering, would any of you take this statement into consideration
in repertorizing? And if so, which rubrics would you use?

Thanks for all your thoughts,

Sara

Ouch Sara... it sounds like this woman is being "eaten" up by a jealousy and that this scenario is not her first
encounter with this "type" of situation... could this suppression (even though she voiced it to you) be one
causative factor of her cancer? It can not be easy for her to befriend this woman or whatever others there have
been prior...

I hope this "take" helps you even if it is not a rubric-specific response it could help lead you to the right one
with further questioning of the Pt...

Patti,

You are absolutely right. I have not detailed this woman as she is SO
complex, and of course, her personality is pivotal to her cancer. She is
very manipulative and quietly thinks and schemes about everything. Her
husband is 15 years younger than her and is abusive, both physically and
emotionally. He claims that her cancer is in her head, and refuses to give
her money for treatment, does not pay her hospital bills, harasses her all
the time, and bad-mouthes her around town. She puts on a show of health and
good cheers, says that all she wants is 'to have fun'. Oh well.

And Denial is not only a river in Egypt.

Sara... so then she WANTS to have fun but allowing that type of abuse also says she feels truly that she is NOT
worthy of having a healthy life... Is she actually quite SAD but wants no one to know it??? great pointers for you
to delve deeper to find your rubrics... there must be suppressed anger... and she sounds quite OBSTINATE about her
theorizing... more pointers for you! Happy RIVER hunting!

Dear Sara

No particular rubric comes to mind but that she has "issues" around trust
and control does come to mind!

99 Dear Sara,
One view: the outer layer of the functional case (not necessarily covering all aspects of the lesional which we have not heard about ie CA) could be summed up by:

***"I wear two hats"---
MIND; DELUSIONS, imaginations; double; he is (K24, SRI-273, G20) (33) : alum., anac., anh., bapt., calc-p., cann-i., cann-s., corn-f., cycl., gels., glon., haliae-lc., lach., lil-t., lyc., mosch., nat-m., nux-m., op., petr., phos., plb., psil., psor., puls., pyrog., rhus-t., sec., sil., stram., ther., thuj., valer.
MIND; DELUSIONS, imaginations; existence; two existences, to have (SRI-279) (1) : cann-i.

***in a case of an abusive partnership

in which their is an abuser, and an abusee who prefers it that way at some level. This is a classic anacardium situation ("split", abusive/abuser partnership). At some level having an "enemy" for her is "sport", indicating their is a mean bone somewhere. Anac is a mean person, but in an anac partnership, usually one partner does most of the overt abusing---the abusee can present "sweet" (cf Staph, who is not split in two and conflicted as is anac; and staph often sexual abuse per se). It is the second personality of the ANAC which presents mean, and will not see this in
casetaking unless looking for it--have to ask family if there is a second personality (various degrees of splitness, often the family knows when the "other half" is at "home", or it may be imperceptible and split may manifest more physically on one side of body or typical anac sx. Anac (like staph) usually "acquired" so there is an rx "underneath" to look for later.

Anac confirmatories
"SPLIT"-sense, or CONFLICTED--may have two personalities or "check out" periodically as if a prolonged mild petit mal
delusion angel on one side of body, devil on another, advising them or plaguing them
great LACK OF SELF-CONFIDENCE
WEAK MEMORY eg forgets purchases at register check-out
throat or neck issues
CURSING tendency
stomach pain > eating
headache like a nail
hx of itching skin eruptions (like rhus eruption) but not requisite and may be forgotten--but may see it come out in followup
Other rubrics of possible interest (Complete Rep)

MIND; AFFABILITY; enemy, to an (SRI-12) (1) : alco.
MIND; DELUSIONS, imaginations; enemy; rest, allows him no (1) : dros.
MIND; DELUSIONS, imaginations; enemy; surrounded by (K24, SRI-276, G20) (10) : anac., bani-c., cand-a., carbn-s., crot-h., dros., lac-del., lap-mar-c., merc., thal.
DELUSIONS, imaginations; pursued, he is; enemies, by (K31, SRI-340, G25) (32) : absin., anac., ars., aur., bell., chin., cic., cocain., con., crot-h., cupr., cycl., dros., hell., hyos., kali-br., lach., lepi., lyc., med., meli., merc., nat-c., nux-v., plb., puls., ratt-n., rhus-t., sil., stram., stry., zinc.
MIND; DREAMS; enemies (K1239, SRIII-291, G1022) (7) : arg., bani-c., con., hydrog., kola., lac-del., ptel.
MIND; DREAMS; pursued, of being; enemies, by (K1242, SRIII-337, G1025) (3) : arg., con., lac-del.
MIND; FEAR; general; enemies, of (SRI-496) (5) : anac., bell., dros., hyos., sil.
MIND; FEAR; general; enemies, of; pursuing (2) : bell., sil.
If anac does not match up, then perhaps the delusion double rubric (suggest check synthesis rep also) along with other sx will be of help.
Best,
Andy

Dear Sara, I would say that yes, you could and should bring this into
repping but it would have been better to have taken the opportunity to get
her to expand on this when she actually said it (perhaps you did, so
apologies). It could be a perfectly 'healthy' state in as much as one sees
the whole world as their friend regardless (as a Phos might well do), it
could be seen as a cunning approach to life as a ruthless business person
might adopt, or an indication of a very vulnerable state etc.

Delusion everyone is an enemy and surrounded by enemies would make a good
start possibly?

Best, Joy

You are, of course, very right Joy!

As the statement was made in a non-homeopathic context I have not pursued it
when she said it. If I had questioned her at that moment, she would have
recoiled and retreated, I just have to let her talk as she is usually very
secretive about her own motivations.

She is more on the cunning side, business person style. Although she is not
currently employed, she used to be a 'Head Hunter', which is a talent
recruiter for Hi Tech companies.... She behaves more like an industrial spy
in all her dealings and information gathering.

These two delusions suggested by you and by Alan, surely come into the
picture!

Thanks again

There's another analysis. This woman, though internally despises her
husband's mistress, still has a peculiar delusion of friendship.

delusions-surrounded by friends- bell,cann-i,germ-met

The third rubric is by analogy:

contradictory,actions are to intentions: Pho,pul,rut,sep,thu

These may help zero in on one remedy.
At a more general level: Ailments from mortification can be taken up
forelimination with other phys generals. Here your Rx staph already is
greatly indicated and you may do well to continue with Staph for
some more time till she gets over.

All the best.

Thank you Venkat, this feels so right to me thinking of her in these terms.
I may just as well look at Staph again, and maybe give her a higher potency
of same. One thing, she surely does not entertain the idea that she is
surrounded by friends... She picks her contacts very carefully, based on
social criteria such as money and fashion, and usually badmouthes and
gossips negatively about most people. There is a lot of bitterness and
cover-up of past hurt in her picture!
