Thanks for this timely piece on "mistletoe".

Some reading I did years ago that stuck with me was that originally the
association with "Christmas" came because, during Druidic times when
Solstice celebrations resulted in lots of conviviality of the "frigging"
kind, a mead made of misletoe was drunk continually throughout the
celebrations by the women because of its abortifacient qualities.

So.....the maiden "under the mistletoe" was SAFE enough to kiss....etc!
