interesting book

I just received an interesting book in the mail today.
On some level, the question is why do it. On another level, it is wonderful.
As we all know, the Kent Repertory has been a mainstay of the
profession over the years. But it is filled with errors-- in
spelling, in remedy accuracy, in correct indentation, etc.
Even the later editions of the Kent book that were published by
Erhart and Karl did not incorporate all the corrections submitted to
them by Kent's pupils Gladwin and Pugh.
These days, many of the errors have been fixed in the newer
repertories-- the Complete and the Synthesis. So, on some level, it
is a bit late to be coming out with a revised and corrected edition
of Kent's work.
But that's what this is. It is Kent's Repertory, sixth American
Edition, corrected, revised, and improved by Ramanlal P.Patel, in
India.
It is a large size, completely re-typeset, and well bound. Even with
the new type-setting, the content of the pages adhere to the original
work.Page 826 in any other Kent edition will be page 826 in this one.
Dr. Patel is one of the living masters of the repertory. He was a
personal friend of Dhawale and the elder Sankaran. He studied with
John Weir in London in 1951. He has been working on a revision since
then.
I had the pleasure of meeting Dr.Patel in Philadelphia many years
ago, and we have maintained a correspondence since that time.
If nothing else, he is meticulous to a fault in his work.
If you are looking for a Kent Repertory, this is the book to get.

By the way, Dr. Thatcher tells of getting a copy of the first
repertory and having it signed by Kent. He asked Kent how much it
was, and Kent told him $30. He looked through it and decided it was
worth 30 times that sum... and took it.
$30 in 1900 is equal to a bit over $650 today....
