I am not seeing clients at home due to house renovations but I am taking
acutes and occasionally going to people's homes for more complicated cases.
This one was last week.
Mother of a teenager phoned at 8pm to say her daughter was in agony because
of toothache. She had already taken 3 hefty painkillers which had no effect,
there was no emergency dentist available, so I was the next choice.
I asked questions and gleaned the following information:-
Had been to the dentist earlier that morning just for a routine examination
and everything was fine, then suddenly, mid afternoon, the pain started in a
right upper molar.
At first it was aching bad then it got more and more intense until she
became frantic with it. It was burning, throbbing (worst sx) and aching all
in one go. She tried an ice cube on it, then ice cold water in the mouth to
try and numb the pain. She had even laid down on the stone floor to try and
cool the pain. She was crying out in so much pain now.
I took a few remedies with me and when I got to the house and saw her - she
was bright red, wild looking and desperate and had just been hanging her
head down between her knees the pressure of which had helped for a few
minutes but now made worse.
I gave her Belladonna 200 and said I would wait awhile with her.
Now I never wear a watch but I have to say it must have been less than 15
seconds and she said the pain was going. She sank into a chair and sat
quietly for a while. By the time her mum had made a cup of tea the pain was
entirely gone. I left another tablet with her just in case but it wasn't
needed. She then went to bed and apparently fell asleep straight away (not
surprisingly).
Better than any Anadin, that's for sure!
Best wishes, Joy

Brilliant and an obvious Belladonna. Lovely and thanks for sharing.

Wow! That kind of situation really makes one glad to be a homeopath, doesn't it?
Thanks for sharing the case -- it's actually good, I think, that people are sharing some acutes, because they are generally so satisfying to treat, and our training is all focused (at least here) on treating chronic disease, ignoring this other important and satisfying realm of treatment.
