Dear Rosemary, thanks for sharing these very interesting cases (although I
have only quickly read the second case).
Here is my montage of thoughts if you care to weave in and out of them.
There is an obvious small group of remedies that one could think about:-
Agaricus
Anacardium
China
Veratrum
Stramonium
Camphor
The first stage of the case would appear to be a need to 'perform' - both
intellectually (to please father and himself) and also physically in acting
out. A high standard of performance was required in either presentation,
possibly too high and that is where the diseased state begins as it destroys
the harmonious balance and becomes inappropriate to good health. Here you
have all the usual remedies you would associate with perfection which also
includes Anacardium. It is interesting that Anacardium has, as a keynote,
'examination funk', they always feel they are going to fail under extreme
conditions of being constantly examined.
Accompanying this is a tendency to theorise about others - China, Veratrum,
Cocculus.
The mimicry I find fascinating. I have only ever treated one set of twins
and one of them was also an excellent mimic. I am wondering if mimicry is
part of the twinning genetic as it is all about 'resembling', being
'similar' to another.
There are some interesting remedies in the rubric 'imitates' - Cuprum,
Veratrum, Stramonium. Veratrum has a mania for it (remember Robin williams
in Fisher King).
I also thought that the rubric 'Mischevious' might be appropriate here, if
this mimicry was done for great fun and laughter - again we have Agar,
Anacardium, Curpum, Veratrum.
The next stage of this case would seem to be all about not fitting in and
the disappointment that entails. There might also be a great deal of
disappointment attached to his feelings about never being able to please his
father completely.
Here you might want to use 'Ailments from disappointment' - here Cocc is
interesting as is Veratrum again.
You mentioned Lycopodium - this remedy has great disappointment in their
life. Remember that Lycopodium was once a huge and tall tree like growth but
now it is only a few centimetres tall and thus they never find a way of
coming to terms with this change and fail to achieve the courage necessary
to overcome this. It is a kind of fall from social position which a number
of the above mentioned rx have.
There is also 'Delusion not fitted for position" - Stramonium.
The third stage of the case seems to be about an ongoing merging of all
these problems as they are not being resolved. There is an opposition of
will power - his and the fathers (whether a delusion or not) - and here you
could consider Anacardium. Loss of will power includes Camphor.
There is also a sense of being abandoned because he is unable to integrate -
again we have Veratrum, Camphor, China, Stramonium.
The next crucial stage are his thoughts are crowding in on him and he cannot
cope with this - there is a rubric 'desires to be diverted from thoughts of
self' - Camphor. Also 'thoughts and ideas crowd and intrude' = Camphor (+
others of course).
He then begins to believe that his father is dead. Is it possible that this
is a wish, seeing as he has believed himself to be under his control all
this time - 'delusion under super human control' = Agaricus, Anacardium.
The convulsions appear to be characterised by a stiffness and also jerkings.
This could apply to any one of the above mentioned remedies without further
information.
The final stage seems that he is in a trance like state (is this due
entirely to the medications?). Is it a type of stupefaction - Agaricus,
Stramonium, Veratrum, Camphor, China.
I have always thought that the rubric 'retraction of testes' suffices for
undescended testes - Agaricus, Camphor, China, Stramonium.
I have a couple of questions - do you know why he felt the need to please
his father over and above the accepted normality? Why did he find the art
class so "excruciatingly difficult"?
You mention the rx already prescribed, can you say what the dose and
potencies were.
Lastly, the rx Cocculus keeps coming through (as well as those already
mentioned) - it is almost as if he is in this state now and it would be
interesting to know if this is an entirely drugged state or not.
I haven't really gone over the other twin's case but I will if I have time.
Hope useful, best wishes, Joy
