I. FEAR, APPREHENSION, ANXIETY.
Fearful, apprehensive. Fears: to be alone; that he cannot pass a

health.
II. DEPRESSION, SADNESS, MELANCHOLY.
Depressed, melancholic, uncontrollable weeping. Profound
melancholy; with nervous anxiety; religious delusions, feels moral

III. SUSPICION, MISTRUST.
Timid, suspicious.

VI. INDIFFERENCE, APATHY.
Profound indifference, almost disgust of life, in melancholia.
VII. INDOLENCE or ACTIVITY.
Restlessness; inability to keep still but no desire to any
occupation; hands constantly fidgety. Shakes all over at thought of
things to be done, but sometimes > by doing them. Languor.
VIII. OTHER MENTALS.
Walks the room groaning, bemoaning his fate. Feeling of lightness
and exhilaration may alternate with heaviness and gloom. Bad effects of
overtaxing brain.
IX. DELUSIONS, IMAGINATIONS.
Delusions: painful, dread of impending destruction; of pursuit; of
poisoning; that her child is dead; with delirium; in pregnancy that she
has committed crime or cruelty, as murdering husband or child.
Hallucinations of sight or sound precede brain and paralytic brain
and paralytic symptoms, either with or without mania. Ardent sexual
imagination.
X. CONFUSION.
Unconscious of what occurs around; cannot recognize or be comforted
by friends. Benumbed sens. of brain. Mentally dull, torpid, perception
and response slow. Heaviness, confusion, staggering as if drunk.
Aphasia, amnesia. Insanity. Rambling thoughts.
XI. ABSENTMINDEDNESS, MEMORY.
Memory absolutely destroyed. Loses words, must be told before he
can speak it. In writing omits words or syllables.
XII. SEXUAL.
Satyriasis, or desire lost to impotence; melancholy and loss of
memory. Pollutions and emissions; with dreams; from ardent imagination;
erections persistent, teasing, from unsatisfied desire chordee.
Spermatorrhoea. Nymphomania. Sterility from indulgence. No feeling
during embrace. Aversion to coition. Uterus: indurated; subinvolution;
enlarged after parturition, abnormal discharge. Too strong desire: many
conditions, both sexes. Ovarian tumor, cyst, neuralgia. Menstrual epilepsy.
XIII. SENSORIUM.
Vertigo: dizziness and noises in ear; with palpitation, nausea,
even unconsciousness; as if ground gave way; staggering gait.
XIV. NERVES.
Restless, fidgety; nervous irritation and excitement. Hysterical
spinal irritation. Reflex excitability; epilepsy from ovaries; neuroses
and convulsions; paralysis, spasms, exhaustion of spinal cord from
sexual excess; from fright, anger, emotional disturbance, dentition.
Night terrors: in children from overexcitability; sometimes followed by
staggering gait, ataxia, or squinting. Convulsions at menstrual period.
XV. SLEEP, DREAMS.
Drowsiness, falls asleep sitting and if roused falls asleep again.
Sleepless; from nervous excitement; restless, can calm herself only by
incessant occupation; in the anemic, exhausted, hysterical, irritated,
convalescent; in mercurialization; from over - full cerebral blood -
vessels. Somnambulism. Grinds teeth, moans, cries during sleep. Deep
sleep, profound, wakes with mental struggle or HA. Night terrors in
children. Fainting, nausea, then sound sleep.
XVI. CIRCULATION.
Anaemia: of brain from loss of fluids. Cardiac neuroses from spinal
or uterine irritation. Feeble intermittent heart action; so nervous she
must busy herself and walk. Beats lack energy, slow, fluttering.
Vascular bruit de souffle.
XVII. AGGRAVATIONS, AMELIORATIONS.
< from anger, fright, embarrassment, worry, business losses; sexual
abuse, excess or unsatisfied desire.
XVIII. SIDES, DIRECTION.
More right than left side.
XIX. CHARACTERISTICS.
Restless, fidgety, esp. hands. Effects of unsatisfied desire in
both sexes; reflex symptoms from anaemia, overtaxing from work, worry or
emotional disturbances, from sexual desire suppressed or indulged, from
ovarian trouble. Nervous symptoms with or precede mental decline. Night
terrors in children. Parts feel as if growing large. Flooding in young
women. Esp. indicated in the obese; children; nervous young women.
XX. CLINICAL FIELDS.
Aphasia, Amnesia. Concussion. Softening of brain. Neuroses, heart
and brain. Mercurial: HA or trembling. Climacteric restlessness.
Puerperal insanity. Asthenia. Sebaceous cysts. Wens. Ovarian tumors,
cysts, fibroids. Hydrocephalic. Pulmonary oedema. Onanism. Locomotor
ataxia. Paralysis: agitans; general of the insane. Epilepsy, esp.
menstrual. Erotomania. Psoriasis. Screaming. Uterine displacement. Night
terrors.
