Hello
Could anyone help with thoughts about the condition my patient is describing
here- or rather any rubrics I could use ? Unfortunately I don't have
permission to paste the full case, which is why I'm asking if anyone has
come across these kind of symptoms before?

Background:- previously wound would ulcerate (bluey/purple and bleed or ooze
clear or sticky fluid- it varies), started on the ball of the right thumb
but then seemed to spread to fingers and other hand. She has also had it
erupt on one or both of her soles in the past and deep cracks under her
little toe-always slow to heal. Had work for several seasons picking roses
(in her youth; now in her 40's)-so possible chemicals -but problem began
when her daughter was born several years later (her 30's) and needed Vit K
-which the mother was given as well (no explanation) but possibly because
she would be handling the nappies/diapers ? When the wounds start to heal
they itch so much she scratches them open again.

although there is some hard skin still on the back of the index and if I
scratch I will break it open. A couple of weeks ago I shaved the hairs off
the back of these 2 fingers as they were bristly and darker - I have let
them grow, they seem to be getting past that irritating regrowth stage, and
they don't seem so dark. Now the problem patch is in the back of my hand,
extending up and over the index knuckle - which is tending to crack in the
folds of the skin (index knuckle that is). If I study my hand, longer hairs
(although thankfully fair) are sprouting out of this new area - and
thankfully not many - but it is upsetting for me. The broken skin is red and
fairly smooth underneath. Pain in my hand is always lurking from tension and
tight skin. "

Dear Barbara,
The first thing that struck me was about the hair growing in places it shouldn't be. Did you know that hair follicles tend to grow where cortisone has been used. Not sure where I got this info from but I think it is right although I stand to be corrected. So your question to her is if she has ever had a reason to apply cortisone cream to her skin where the problem is.

Dear Barbara, the blue/purple you describe would be a strong indicator. Any
contact with animals - sounds like anthracinum, but many other rx have the
bluish/purple - some of the snakes, arsenicum, ran-b, sulphur, ailanthus,
arg nit + many more. Otherwise I think you have some clear sx to work with
as far as repertorisation goes.
