Dear Cinnabar,

Once again on capsicum.
My son,9,had chronic cough when 3 and treated with inhalers. No cough
for past 3 years.

For a year or two, his total personality has blunted. He now drops
things, bumps into others, walks with a lethargic gait foot forward,
trunk lagging with the heels first hitting ground. An absent minded
walk. Absent minded, listless behaviour. Excited speech. Talkative.
Clumsy in actions and gestures. Will simply walk into my office
regardless of who's in it. Despite admonitions. Will walk directly
tome and start to talk. Mild and timid. Fond and dependent on mother.
very sensitive to my remarks. Affectionate. Silly laugh. Laugh
immoderate at times. Even over serious matters. Hastiness.

Physically,chilly, covered in nights, takes hot baths. Will squirm
uncomfortably with his innerware ( vest) . Likes Sweets, hates milk,
hates things slimy, even coriander leaves and tomato. Skin dry. Rigid
muscles and moderately strong build. P/H of skin eruptions.

Now will you think, this boy needs caps. Sulph, staph, carc ( one
dose), graph, hyos( immoderate laugh, naive) failed. Bell partially
worked.

The chilly, clumsy, affectionate, are caps. But his build ? Hering
says they are of lax fibre. Have you clinically had such caps
children ? Also caps is mentioned as obstinate.

I'm not comfortably prescribing for someone I've never seen, so I can't simply say that Capsicum is indicated for your son. But you write that he's very sensitive to your remarks -- what do you mean by this? To what in particular is he sensitive? Capsicum has an almost pathological fear of being reproached by his parent, so much so that he may flee rather than face a confrontation in which he anticipates being told that he's "wrong."

As far as their being obstinate, I think a better word is "oppositional" or contrary. You say "black," and they say "white" -- in other words, they're determined to take the opposite side (although I doubt the decision is a conscious one).

Interesting that you say Belladonna partially worked -- both it and Capsicum are members of the Solanaceae family, but Sankaran puts Belladonna in the Acute miasm and Capsicum in the Malarial miasm.

Please let us know what your decision is and, if you give the boy Capsicum, what effect it had.

Dear Rochelle,

One year back he had one of those colds which ended in
a typical cough- hollow, deep couldnt expectorate
enough. Cough as if could deep, to expectorate was a
strong keynote of Caust. And also, an associated jerk
of the head backward apparently to inhale more air
suddenly was cured by one dose of Caust 200.

yes, he is chilly, he is constipated.Both are caust.
But his academic brightness is something to consider.
He is a school topper. I will have a look at Caust
again.
