The boy with a mapped tongue

Hello everyone,

I am herewith giving one of my cases, of my son,aged
5, under my treatment for
one year.

He was treated for cough with occasional wheezing from
age 3 with inhalers.
A homeopath was also seeing him. Last year I took
over. First Phos ( on constitutional
lines) at long intervals did serve but seeing the loss
of flesh, I stopped and
reconsidered the case using Boger's.
Cough, motion agg, time evening agg, time night, night
dry, morning productive
concommittant: mapped tongue
mind : obstinate

First Natm was tried, then Puls. The cough was only
palliated. Then Silicea. Sil made a real difference.
On relapse, Sil did not respond. Puls did well.Then It
was alternating between Sil and Puls in weekly doses.
Somehow, at least once a month there was a trying
spell of cough which kept the entire family
tense and concerned.

Last month, during such a spell, I suddenly realised
that it was full moon.On enquiry, my wife told me that
he had a spell in train fifteen days back which was
new moon! Then she remembered another three months
back which was our holy new moon (in the Tamil month
of Aadi).

Now It should be either Sil or Sabadilla! I waited for
the next new moon.Two days before the new moon ( our
diwali festival)at 9 pm, he had cough again and
Saba 30 and then 200. No change. Sil 1m was given.
Cough stopped. At midnight my wife woke me up saying
he had fever.

The fever did not subside even in the morning. Many
puls Symptoms were seen but puls200 did not
work.paracetamol( antipyretic) was given. Fever came
down.
Cough started again. I waited two hours and Sil 30was
given. Cough stopped.Fever started. I antidoted with
hepar 30. fever stopped and cough started. This cough
was rechting with vomitting amel. Since I did not want
to use sil gave mezerium 30c in water rwo times. Cough
responded but fever rose.

Now my rubrics were clear. Cough alternating with
fever.

Synthesis Rep: Cough:
Fever: comes on cough amel: Ol-j
intermittent fever cough after: Nat -m
-- do----- cough before: eup perf.

Here I paused. The mapped tongue ! It has persisted
from the time he had coug till now. Is the present
state the next layer ? The strongest Rx now will be
Natm. But natm 200 did nothing ! Then 2 hours later
eup perf 200 ( after reading Lilienthal- fever after
suppressed cough. Loose cough during apyrexia.).My
wife
by now got anxious and I let go and antibiotic was
given with anti pyretic. He was
not entirely comfortable but with stuffed nose and
sneezing.
Four days later, as I was going thru the book "how to
find the similimum with Boger-Boenninghaussen
repertory" ( Dr Bhanu Desai). He had given addtions to
boger's rep. In tongue - mapped,tetter,ringworm- ol
j,bacillinum,tub.

Oleum jecoris Aselli- (cod liver oil)- In Clarke,
Cough comes when fever amel. The other aspects of
cough and the tubercular diathesis were conforming.

I immediately administered crude cod liver oil and the
same night he had cough.
Before I could come down and attend, he was deep
asleep. the cough did not return.
The nest day I procured Ol-j 3x ( that was all was
available) and gave for the next three days. The
mapped tongue is gone and so was the cough. Now almost
ten days and no cough. The boy is less adament and
eats with relish. Gaining weight. Wife is happy.

I would have entirely missed this similimum but for
Bhanu desai's addition ! Also I wouldn't have gone
that far if I hadn't found the sx midway in crisis! My
son, whose suffering was a motivation for myself
studying homeopathy, has finally got over!

Thankyou, that is fascinating, and congratulations on that!!!
In Kent I don't find any rubric about cough and fever alternating, or fever
from suppressed cough. What rep was this from? (I'm certainly going to add
those!)

As I was reading, it seemed to me that start of fever and ending of cough
(what you called alternation) occurred only after a remedy. My assumption
would have been that the fever was necessary to expel the disorder causing
the cough. Could you comment on that?

Also, does anyone have more info on ol-j? Doing a rubric extraction from
Complete Millenium yields some intense and eye-catching rubrics, e.g.

as well as many other uncomfortable looking ones, but there are only a
handful of rubrics there, so this appears to be one of those "you just have
to know it" remedies! So thanks (again) for inspiring me to read up on it!

Hi Venkata

Thanks for the interesting story. My friend has a girl whose eczema clears
up during fever and returns after the fever was cured by Ars.
She had eczema for a few years and had seen two homeopaths (over a year)with
little improvements.
Do you know of any rubics for her case?

Dear Shannon,
It was from Synthesis Repertory. Cough section under
fever.

Even paracetamol, an allopathic anti pyretic which
lessened the fever and brought on the cough. The
reason is unexplainable. I just narrated what
happened. I too will think on that.
