Any ideas where to start on this one. Mum has phoned to her 7 yr old is constantly holding his penis. He says that it itches and what relieves it is holding it (pressure) . She says he is constantly rocking backward and forward holding his thighs together to relieve this sensation. He is having erections all the time says Mum. She has taking him to the GP who has given him a thorough examination and thee appears to be no problem with the groin, scrotum or penis. In the past he has had a tight foreskin with urinary infections and berberis 30 has sorted it. but this is not the problem. Mum thinks that the top (by the groin ) may look more bulbous but admits she is just looking for any clues. No problems with urination although a sample has been sent off for examination. The start coincided with the end of the school term and she said that he was upset at leaving his class for the holidays. I have not had him in as yet- this was a phone call. his usual constitutional Rx has been Tub which he hasn't since June 02. Last Rx (unless mum has dosed him that I don't know of) was Dros. 30 June 2nd 03 for cough and June 25th 03 Euphrasia for hay fever. Mum is not the type who who shout at him for handling his penis but is anxious when it comes to illnesses.

Ah ha - never thought of that one. Thought it only affected the anus!!!!
This will show from the urine sample which will take 10 days before the results. I did ask mum if there was anything odd about the urine and she reckoned not.

This is what his grandmother said!!!! However what concerns Mum is that he is uncomfortable with this feeling and that is why he has to alleviate the feeling by applying pressure. Apparently he is wetting himself when laughing.

OK I have read every ones advice and suggestions and I have prescribed Cantharis 6 after reading the MM to Mum over the phone. Mum reckons the itch is inside the penis and cantharis seems to fit. It has pulling of the penis, irritation, swelling of the genitals and Mum is convinced they are swollen. He has had infections in the past as I have said which berberis has sorted. The poor kid also has headlice and has itching on his head. I just in time stopped Mum from using one of those horrible chemical shampoos and told her how to use the conditioner method. I just wonder if there is a connection between these 2 problems? A mite got stuck up the penis?
Will keep you informed.

BTW - had another case in of Molluscum today and prescribed constitutionally again so here's hoping my 100% cure record (on 2 cases!!!) on this one stays!!!! It might be called Contagium but I have never seen 2 kids in the same family with it. Susceptibility again obviously.

But if there's a physical cause, e.g. as someone mentioned candida, then
that rubric might not apply.
