Dear Doctors,
One of my friends is preparing an article about 'The Role of Homoeopathy in
Mentally Retarded/Low IQ children'. Is any body have any success in
elevating the IQ or mental status of such children through Homoeopathy.
Please give your experiences to me or to Dr. Arun Prasad directly at
appoo@sancharnet.in
Dr. Abdul Gafar.

Dear Dr Abdul Gafar, I would be interested in writing up cases I have had
experience with but I have to say that the title of this proposed article
comes across as prejudicial and offensive in my opinion and I wouldn't care
to contribute if it were to stay like this. Children who are comparatively
not so intelligent as their peers shouldn't be called 'retarded' and also IQ
is extremely variable in all of us - we are all brilliant at some thing,
very good at many things and usually hopeless at some things - this is so
for all of us. IQ isn't everything.

Can you say more about the stance of the proposed article.

Hi joy,

i would like to apologize on behalf of Dr. Gafar - He was merely forwarding
my request. I would like to clarify that i have not thought about the
actual title of the article. This is for a newsletter brought out by a
group involved with helping mentally handicaped children. This is aimed at
informing their parents, so as to help with the decision making on what
therapy to choose (they have asked for similar articles from allopaths,
ayurvedic physicians etc.)

while i agree that iq is not everything, in children with moderate to severe
disability it is a good measure to predict how they are going to cope up.
By the way i should point out that most of the children in this group are
not just "comparatively less intelligent" - they have disabilities enough to
require training in special schools

Personally i cannot say that i have been able to make much of an improvement
in the lives of such children (i have seen 4 -5 cases till now) except in
the treatment of their physical ailments. i will be grateful if you would
write up about your experiences

regards,
Arun
