Just to start a different train of thought...
Kali Bromatum

isolation (no relationships)
paranoia (seems unlikely from your description
workmates are frightened of him!)
Timidity
Delusion forsaken (the home again)
Forsaken by God
Ailments from grief, the rhus tox could be
coincidence, how did he feel when step father died?
Maybe happy if he was a bit of an ogre - guilt?
(of course KB is in anxiety of conscience - what
isnt?)
Any sign of hand wringing or sighing?

I see the tub going on (mountains etc) this rock
climbing seems to go against the grain somewhat
does he have a strong persona at work?
Why is he fighting with the council? Is he really?
What has he achieved?
Is it an underdog thing or fighting against the
INSTITUTION?
Fighting injustice (you know where thats going)
Why does he like rock climbing
What is scary about failure?
What doesnt he want to hear?
How would the total failure of his life look?

Hope this prompts something to click!

I've just had a patient respond well to Kali-br. The hand-wringing was not present, and we missed the prescription the first time.however, the patient was extremely restless, and had to pace back and forth incessantly, even while we were talking with him. Boericke someplace said that the restlessness in Kali-br could present as restless pacing, rather than as hand movements, and that was the clincher for us to make the prescription. So if the patient shows some constant form of physical restlessness, it could be Kali-br, even if the hands are not involved.

Thanks for that. I think I would recognise Kali Brom as it is the fear and anxiety that goes with the Rx as well as the hand movements/pacing. Unfortunately he sits very quietly and still during the consultation!!
