Today's emergency case
Posted: Fri Aug 08, 2003 1:25 am
Had an emergency one in today - a new one who was such a nervous wreck when he arrived. (Calmed him right down with EFT) He was at the end of his tether as he feels he is "out of control of his own body" "Can't see anyway out of this. I feel as if I am dying. I had all these plans of how I was going to spent my life and the places I would go". Basically 18 months ago he had some warts on his foot and had biopsies of them. He went abroad to Bermuda while there was still a wound from the biopsy and afterswimming etc ended up with open ulcers which would come up , burst and then drained. He had an injection while he was there which worked well. When he returned he was given anti biotics and they were checking him for eczema and he has had 50 UVA treatments which stopped 4 weeks ago. he was then given a patch test on his back and his back flared up.he was given cortisone cream and now his back is pretty clear. He has red burnt looking patch under his left arm the other under arm has cleared. He blames the UVA treatment. His skin is very dry and has discolouration but because he is so tanned from the treatment I can't say what colour the discolouration is. Possibly like cloasm but he reckons it is purplish . The skin is itchy but he recons it was itchy without eruptions before the warts incident. He says that he still has the infection in his system with 3 bouts of ear infection the last 2 weeks ago (anti biotics again). These present as a "painful swelling as if the whole ear is coming out and it closes over". No discharge. He also has had 3 foot infections and reckons another is brewing. His feet have deep cracks his palms of his hands are desquamating. Also during the last 18 months he has had an angioplasty and 2 stents fitted because an angiogram showed blockages although he has no angina pain- he takes Tiladiam (sp) and Provastatin + aspirin since then. Also he has had a spell of diabetes which is now gone as he eats no sugar at all or yeast products( Vega food intolerance test.)
Was happy in his job but was made redundant since the illness rather than the sack because of sick leave. On his 2nd marriage in which he is extremely happy.
He sorts out any family things -"I always sorted all the problems out at work and was working 18hours a day until I said no more". "I loved my job except the last 5 years when people were being treated badly "(Made redundant". he was chief sales manager with 500 staff under him and was thought of as "firm but fair" "I never told anyone to do anything but always asked them." . He told me he looked on every one he had to discipline as if it was his lovely wife in front of him. Comes over as very compassionate. Has always been "totally in control" until this which he is not in control of. Never had a day off in his life at work. Very family orientated. Age 60 but tall, and is healthy looking. Enjoys watching thunderstorms. Doesn't like people lying because in his first marriage "I lived a lie before I got divorced because we grew apart".
Sleep - can't get to sleep and then only sleeps for an odd hour at a time. Reckons 2-3 hours a night. Dreams of the past as the "the future doesn't seem to be there"
Says he wouldn't commit suicide (his wife had told me he was suicidal) as it would hurt the family too much but when he thinks of it, it is with a hose pipe in the car.
Always warm - in winter is in shirt sleeves. Bowels "erratic" since diet change. Now tends to be constipated although he doesn't feel it. (Calc?)
He thinks the skin stuff is stress related - itching amel cold , hot water makes it worse but he likes a warm bath.
"When the infection is raging I ramble on in the fever and my wife says I say "It doesn't matter any more as it is all over" constantly . He says he doesn't know what this means!!
Sweat recent , smells of metal/earthy.
Aversion cheese - but drinks milk.
Can get verbally aggressive if criticised when he doesn't think it is constructive he told me at one point and at another "Very rare to be in a temper. If I am it is sudden and it's gone. I don't argue as it is a waste of time and meaningless.
Fear - not getting well and leaving the family ill prepared.
"I am a creature of habit".
I don't know what you think but told him to ask his GP to get him an appointment at the School of Tropical Medicine as I wonder if he picked up something like a parasite in Bermuda.
This is another case where someone has come to homeopathy as a last resort. This man sounded desperate and seemed a very nice person with a concerned and loving wife and family. BTW the skin looked very dry rather than the usual eczema but as I said it was difficult to see because of his tanned skin.
