Thanks Elham. The midwife says that a bit of vernix in the tear duct is quite common and it will sort itself out without resorting to allopathic antibiotics. I have passed on the tips about breast milk and chamomile tea and Mum reckons she may well try them both.

In answer to Farbod Mum said that in the morning the eye is very crusty and hen opening his eyes there is a string of pus going across the eye (kali Bi?). There are tiny broken blood vessels on the inner side of the sclera which Mum says may have been from the fast birth. The left eye is worse than the right.

Dear Rochelle
I agree with Elham. Here I would prescribe pul or arg-nit.
According to these rubrics Puls is the only remedy.

1-EYE/Inflamation/children/newborns
2-EYE/Discharge/purulent

I had cases of Infantile colic who responded well to Puls.
