Ideas anyone? My patient has a particular type of claustrophobia. It
occurs when she is in an enclosed space with other people -- like an
elevator or airplane. She feels "TRAPPED" and that she "can't breathe."

Under MIND I found FEAR, narrow place in, and a big rubric for Crowd in.
But these don't really match. I only have Kent's. Thanks in advance.

Is she completely fine in a tiny space if she is the *only* one there?
Is she completely fine in a crowd if there's plenty of room?
Does she have, or remembering having in the past, any fear of suffocation
under other circumstances?

One possibility would be mix-and-match three rubrics, "fear in a narrow
space", "fear in a crowd" and "fear of suffocation". But I have not had
good luck with "elimination" (so often wind up eliminating the needed remedy
-- sometimes it *should* be in rubrics it's not (meaning it is well known as
belonging there, or that you will find that sx in materia medica on the rx);
other times you won't find that symptom specifically mentioned for the
remedy -- but if the rx fits well in other ways, it may still work well.

So I might first try this "triple cross" and see if one of those fits well
in other ways. If not, I would rep the rest of the case, then add in the
three fears, and look for a rx that fits well in other ways and has one (or
two or three) of the fears also.

I think the main point is not to get too caught up in *any* single symptom;
use this claustrophobia as more of a confirmatory for an otherwise
well-suited remedy, rather than insisting on it as a starting point.

BTW did you see whether there's any plausible "reason" for her fear -- any
past experience of the type? Because if so, you might want to shift the
focus accordingly.
