Baby girl - 9 months - Calc constitution - is being given the odd Cham 6 for teething has this weird protuberance on her anus that has grown rapidly in the last 3 days. It looks like a wide flap of skin - a skin tag?- to me. She was taken to the doctor tonight who hadn't a clue, said it might be a wart and said come back in a fortnight. Mum is not happy with this and is worried about how large it will get! The child is fine except when she knows she is going to pass a stool she has little cry as if something is hurting. This is a lot better than it was as a week or so ago when on holiday she was hysterical. At that time she had a vomiting and diarrhoea bug as did all the family. Her skin is clear (she used to have eczema), the stool is normal or the usual greenish soft when a baby is teething. She has a very slight cough (also associated with teething). I have been treating this child since she was a few weeks old for the odd thing. Has anyone seen anything like this before?

It might just be what is called a "sentinel tag" that happens at the lower
end of an anal fissure.
Have Mum (or you) have a gentle look at the anus, "unfolding" it with care
and you might see the fissure; it can then be treated as usual, the tag will
disappear a few days/weeks after the fissure has healed, unless it stays
there for too long.

Thanks Joe but what do you mean by "treated as usual"? A fissure at the end makes a lot of sense considering what she has been like before a stool.

As you would treat a patient with the main complaint being a fissure =
symptoms, signs, modalities, etc,.... neglecting simply the tag.

Fair enough except all I have is a 9 month old baby who can't talk. So we have discomfort on passing stool and fissure in a Calc constitution. Not a clue if it is stomach, abdomen or rectum that bothers her before the stool. I have just found

None of these thrill me except this is the baby that I wrote about months ago where we were having trouble getting rid of the thrush in her mouth. This could point to Borax but I have never seen the keynote of fearful from downward motion. As I have said this child is the picture of health at the moment and I don't want to upset this with a Rx unless I am quite sure.. Repping Anal fissure (Phatak) + Pain stool before (Combined) I only come up with 2 Rx, Nit Ac.and Nat Mur. both of which I think would be difficult to establish in a baby.

First LOOK at the anus to see if there really is a fissure.

If it is at the margin and slightly yellowish, you have a case for Nitric
Acid.

BTW, we already discussed that, but IMO, the fact that a keynote is missing
does not eliminate a remedy........

Hi Rochelle,

When you say, "... in a Calc constitution," do you mean that the child has
responded well to Calc in the past, or that s/he appears as if s/he would,
were it given?

Refresh my memory -- was it borax that dealt with his/her thrush, and did
anything else change after that remedy?

The child never actually took Borax in potency because basically I didn't want any more Rx down her . The thrush came up after the Nux and it was a return of symptoms as she had it on her bottom early on. We treated/suppressed (?) it with diluted cider vinegar and then she had the Calc 30.

Makes sense!

I notice that calc is in the rubric (Complete) for anal fissues. I wonder
whether more calc either lower (or higher) potency might help, if it is
indeed a fissure??? Maybe even cell salt? (Or is there a more specific
cell salt?) Does she show any other calc sxs at present, or is she
off-balance in any other way that you can see?

I'll be interested to hear what works out!
