Hi Ratan,

"Toxicity" would happen only from really gross overdose.
But "imbalance" -- and problems -- could come about from lower doses in
improper combination. E.g. the B vitamins work very interdependely, and you
can create "artificial deficiency" of some, by oversupply of others, which
stimulate the need for the one(s) not supplemented. This is less likely to
happen with food sources, as they are better balanced, but can happen even
so. (I can create vitamin B-2 deficiency symptoms in myself by eating too
much of sunflower seeds and/or wheat germ; both of these have much more B-1
in them than B-2 (don't know about the others). But I was eating *quite* a
lot of them at the time, which is not adviseable for many reasons.)

To get actual toxicity you have to take really huge amounts, and/or have
preexisting weakness. I think "imbalance" is the more likely risk with
supplements.

Vitamins toxicity

Post by Dr. Ratan Singh »

Is the toxicity due to vitamins per se or due to the
additives/preservatives/solvents added to them as base?
Ratan.
