New provings & copyrights /was:Thiosianamine proving

Jill:

If it is a relatively new proving you are speaking of, you would appear
to be in danger of involving yourself and others in conspiracy to
defraud the authors of intellectual property rights.

Laws, copyrights, & international treaties aside- if the meagre
financial incentive for doing new provings is contraverted by people
offering bootleg copies via homeopathy email lists ...
that would be a very poor showing of support by the homeopathic
community, huh ?

It might be a good thing if the schools & others authoring provings
would either post the whole thing on their websites (some do) and
provide a means for easily making donations...
When many provings are being licensed for inclusion in software packages
such as Encyclopedia Homeopathica, it is inevitable that electronic
copies will be shared-around some.. but somehow it seems as if we as a
community should show our strongest support for those few sources of new
provings..

Dave, it is available for download at no cost from the college website - so
there is no fraud involved here - many provings are also available form
Misha Norlands site. No cost there either. That is the choice of the
College.

Please POST THE LINK, then, so everyone who wishes for a free copy can
go there.

In browsing the college site, there is no readily apparent suggestion of
a free download, only this:
Thiosinamine (1998) - available at £5.00 plus p+p. (75p to UK, £1.50
Europe, £2.50 outside Europe)

well it WAS certainly a free download that's how I got mine and I remember
wondering why Ernest hadn't charged for it - obviously his economical savvy
has resurfaced! :-) The problem with many of these new provings is that they
are HUGE documents and it doesn't make for cost efficiency for the colleges
involved to charge, it never covers costs - the recipient bears the cost on
paper, ink and printer wear and tear. The exchange rate is a request to send
in successfully cured cases using the remedy - that's how Misha does it most
of the time it woudl seem.

As I had thought... there is no free Thios. proving download...
Nor does Will McTaggart seem to be suggesting it would be acceptable for
people to freely distribute it via Minutus list.
Accordingly, it would be nice if people would show a little respect by
(at the very least) not using the list as a public means of copyright
infringement.
If you don't have a clue as to how to post a message to an
*INDIVIDUAL'S* email address instead of to the list, please beg, borrow,
or steal one.

In your email-sending window, there is a box conspicuously lableled
TO:
In this box, if you are sending an email that is appropriately send to
*an individual* rather than the list, you should not see

Having just had a nice long chat with Will, he is now quite prepared to talk
with Tony and Ernest about rethinking the availability of the Thios proving
and other research that the college undertakes. In fact our talk proved to
be enlightenng in as much as it will now lead to a new and creative rethink
of how the college website runs and there might be plans to make it much
more interactive with post graduate work being made available. Will was keen
to consider the exchange rate that Misha Norland sets up which is to receive
information on cured cases. Credit doesn't always have to be monetary or
attributary. Copyright laws are vague enough and certainly even more vague
on the internet. Even libraries have a problem with the issues of royalites
etc. The general feeling from the NWCH is open to the spread of information
and it seems it will be a site worth keeping an eye open for in the near
future (if not already).

I agree, it makes better sense to have it downloadable
-and to be able to trust people to pay a little for it if asked to.
