telephone prescriptions.

Post by annie summers »

Hi
One of the lines that I would adopt if I hadn't seen them for a while is that if they are getting mouth abscesses - or whatever - they must need some good constitutional treatment or that would not be happening. I also explain that I do not believe it is professional to prescribe over the telephone if I have not seen someone for X number of months.
If you really do not want to be bothered by patients out of hours - or you need cover whilst away on holiday or for a few days - I always give my patients the number of the Homeopathic Helpline. Its a premium line and costs £1.50 per minute - professionally run by good homeopaths - and it really makes your patients appreciate the free and more liberal time that they get from you

kit of remedies so do not need to get them from me. I would be interested in
how to word in my charging schedule that these acute telephone consultations
entail a charge. I don't charge for any telephone enquiries from patients
that I see on a regular basis.
All suggestions appreciated.

Hi Annie,
Just to say I have used the homeopathic helpline for years as one of the
homeopaths is a good friend and I have net and attended lectures with the
other one.
I agree with what you have said but do think the abscess is a one off. I
encourage my patients to phone for advice and do not mind giving it to
current patients as it is all part of the service.

Hi Annie,

Wow, interesting...
How do they avoid all the problems people have been bringing up here -- risk
of missing something important, lack of context for the "acute", all that???

Hi Shannon,
The homeopathic helpline always advises that the patient sees their
homeopath or sees a local homeopath as soon as possible!!
