Dear Nancy,
.....Please be assured that I *never* assume anything. I have been
prescribing tissue salts heavily to clients old and young, weak and strong,
for 17 years and have never come across this phenomenon. As a matter of
fact, they are particularly indicated for weak and convalescing subjects, as
well as reliably safe to be taken by women throughout the duration of
pregnancy. To mention Dr Ramakrishnan again, he frequently uses the tissue
salts to aid recuperation in his cancer patients, prescribing them for up to
2 years constantly, even when free of the disease.
There is additionally an interesting case from Dr Schussler, where a 5 year
old child was prescribed tissue salts. Schussler gave the mother a large
supply, something in the order of 300 tablets or so, with instructions as to
how to dose them out to the child (16 a day or so). The mother contacted him
after a few days, saying the child was better and asking for more tissue
salts. It transpired that the child loved the taste so much, she had eaten
the entire supply. There were no ill effects, as one would expect.
In principle, once the cell has been fully replenished of the salt in which
it was deficient, any surplus will simply be excreted. Theoretically, I can
see no reason for them causing a proving or aggravation. Obviously I speak
of the low potencies (in fact dilutions), and not the higher potencies of
the same substances, whereupon they become something quite different.
I can see a possibility of aggravations being erroneously attributed to the
tissue salts (in fact I have come across this more than once myself) when
they are used alongside high-potency homeopathic remedies or allopathic
drugs. There is also the issue of lactose intolerance, which Shannon has
very rightly raised.

Re: Single remedy / tissue salts
Dear Nancy,
What I've noticed in several cases is that it is neccessary to start with
one tablet and slowly increased to desired dosage. One time I had suggested
a very low dosage, the lady who was starting to take the tissue salts forgot
and read the instructions off the bottle. She had severe diahrrea for a day
or so before we realized what was causing the problem, but I wouldn't
classify it as an aggravation, more so a rapid detoxification!
Best Wishes,
Marlaina

Hi Marlaina,
I agree with you about starting slowly with tissue salts. The severe diarrhea you talk about with your patient's example is something I'd consider an aggravation...simply because the medicine creates discomfort and suffering where none should have taken place. Calling it a rapid detoxification isn't exactly accurate...I could have concluded the same thing about my patient's very violent abcess formations too...the point is, though, that using too much of the cell salt caused the condition to become temporarily worse. That's the definition of aggravation.
Really, there ought to be a restriction on printing "directions for use" on these bottles, as that's what made things go awry for both of us!
Regards,
Nancy
