Milk allergy [was: Digest Number 852]

Post by Shannon Nelson »

Oops, sorry, I should have included all that!
- I was not able to find anything that seemed significant in the pregnancy
(child was wanted, marriage stable, pregnancy pretty easy, uneventful)
- or birth (no drugs or intervention, except that she was born with "fluid
in the lungs" and kept a couple of days for observation, until her breathing
normalized).
- No problems with nursing, except that she choked very easily (that
continued for at least several years, always has trouble swallow pills).
Mother did have to restrict certain foods, because the baby developed
(from memory) rash from eggs, and I think milk was one that the mother also
restricted. She weaned herself about about 10 months.

The problem was first noticed after she started daycare, and began to
occasionally be given milk there. (Prior to that she had not been given
milk, and the daycare was instructed not to give it to her, because of the
history of other allergies.)

They are told that she is allergic to both lactose and milk protein. Milk
is the biggest problem, but there is also reaction to yogurt, cheese (much
less, tho). She does not seem to react to butter or cream.

Nux and sulph are definitely both on her list. She's had sulphur a couple
of times (with benefit, and will no doubt have more), and I've *nearly*
given nux a couple of others. I think now that I will wait for another
chance, and try it! (First nux-like state I wound up giving silica instead
-- she had *veeeerrrrryyy* stinky, caustic foot sweats), and it worked very
well for the irritability and oversensitivity, as well as steadying her
energy very nicely. Oh, and the stinky foot sweats stopped, too! So maybe
silica was correct at the time... But I do need to give nux a try.

Thanks!
Shannon
