Hello Friends,
As strange rubric was discussed recently, I thought this one is worth
bringing to everyone’s notice. The synthesis repertory gives:
CHAPTER GENERALS - BESNIER-BOEK-SCHAUMANN, morbus

Radar shows the cross reference
Chest - Sarcoidosis
for

http://www.whonamedit.com/synd.cfm/844.html
Description:
A generalized benign systemic granulomatous disease most frequently
involving the lymph nodes, liver, skin, lungs, spleen, salivary glands, and
eyes. More frequent in young adults 20 to 30 years of age, with a
predilection for females. In the U.S.A. it occurs frequently in Negroes.
Etiology unknown.
The English physician Robert Willan in 1808 described erythema nodosum,
another skin symptom that in 1946 was proved to be related also to
sarcoidosis. The skin lesions were described first by Sir Jonathan
Hutchinson in 1877 and later by Ernest Henri Besnier in 1889. Boeck in 1899
described the first case of sarcoidosis with skin changes and general
destruction of lymph nodes. Involvement of other parts of the body was
reported by Jörgen Nilsen Schaumann to the Societé française de Dermatologie
et de Syphiligraphie pour le Prix Zambaco, in 1914. Through his paper of
1916-1917) the systemic nature of sarcoidosis came to be recognized. The
histological picture of lupus pernio with presence of epithelid cells and
giant cells was first described in 1892 by the two French physicians H.
Tenneson and Charles Eugene Quinquaud (1841-1894). Alexander Bittorf
(1876-1940), Erich Kusnitzky (1883-1960) in 1915 drew attention to the
pulmonary manifestation of sarcoidosis. The Norwegian pathologist Morten
Ansgar Kveim (1892-1966) in 1941 published a test to differentiate
sarcoidosis from tuberculosis. Danbolt in 1947 re- examined Boeck’s original
patient, then aged 80
