childblains & Salix

Post by isali »

Dear Patti, Robyn and Anne,
Thanks for your suggestions for my chilblains. I found
Boericke - Locomotor
TOES, CHILBLAINS (2)
3 NIT-AC, 2 sal-ac
Now it just happens that I have 1/2 litre of herbal Salix and Sal Ac is a
large component of this I believe so this is what I have been dabbing on and
the itching has stopped!!!!

All the best
Rochelle

Hi Rochelle, your friendly doctor of oriental medicine here. I want to take liberty to pass comment on your use of Salix.

For others on the site, Salix specie is "willow". The bark of the tree is in the medicinal literature. The compounds yield salicylic acid and related derivatives. Its action is antipyretic and antiphlogistic.
Precaution for GI disturbance.

Your usage is an herb for its pharmaceutical action, not as an herbal. It is acting in a suppressive manner to the VF, and being implemented in order to acquire some management of relief by its anti-___ action.

In oriental medicine we would describe your condition as reflecting wind-heat. I would recommend an herbal containing Ku Shen (sophora); Huang Bai (phellodendrum); Shi Chang Pu (acorus); & Dan Shen (salvia). This would be a very nice topical composition which will treat your condition via the VF.

regards my friend
