Acute chest - help please

Has anyone any clues on this one please. I gave Baccillinum 200 yesterday .
he has taken about 3 doses and nothing has changed. This patient I had
booked in for a constitutional consultation but when he arrived he said that
he had to pick the kids up from school in 1/2 hour so I tried to just do the
acute (chronic!!) problem that was going on now.
--------------------
Symptoms - tickly throat, lots of mucus, cough < morning on waking, voice
sore, glands swollen, very thirsty and prefers cold water. He has been
sweating at night with the pillow being soaked in the morning. Also he has
had to push the covers off, as he is hot and then when coos down puts them
back on. He is not bothered about food at the moment. He had diarrhoea last
week from the antibiotics he has been on. He hasn't really been free of this
problem since September.
"My problem is predictable. It comes up at Sep, Nov, Jan and March. I have
had this problem all my life and it continued after I had my tonsils
removed at age 20. "
He presented as a well-padded man 36 year old with a round face. He seemed
calm and was not restless

Dreams - lots. He wakes about 3 am and also at 5.30am.

Eyes - tired and sore
Has been sneezing.

Discharge - "yukky green".

Dyspnoea.

Headache - for a couple of hours last week.

Lately he has been getting pins and needles in his left arm and left hand
tingling.

He has noticed that jogging outside can start his chest off so he stopped
doing this a while back..

Hi Rochelle,
My repertorization of this showed several remedies; Pulsatilla and Silica looked strong. I tend to think that the pillow could be wet because of Silica's habitual perspiration pattern, while sleeping, on the occiput and back of the neck, and would also tend towards Silica because of this being his lifelong chronic tendency. Also, that interesting tendency to have this acute outbreak every two months during the colder seasons--Silica is black letter under "periodicity."

Looks like acon. & of the Ranunculacee family. Acon. serves more than acute
issues; has many left sided manifestations; including tingling or change of
sensation in left arm. To be distinctive from Ant-t which is right sided.

Hi, Rochelle --

If there's nothing more substantial to go by (constitutionally speaking), you might look at Senega. Lots of mucus, chronic bronchitis, coughs set off by motion, among other things, and followed by sneezing. Does he have any eye problems? Eyestrain, double vision, ptosis, and other conditions would be potential confirmatories.

Peace,
Cinnabar

Thanks Jean, Jenny, Isali and Jan for you remedy suggestions. I wasn't at
all happy that he only gave me 1/2 hour on Monday to take the case and so I
had him in again today for an hour. On the strength of this I have given him
Causticum 200. He drinks the cold water to relieve the cough and at night
when it is at its worst he can't cough hard enough to cough up the phlegm
which he described as looking like plastic or lard (greasy?).If very dry (no
pain so not Bryonia
Constitutionally he could be Causticum although I see Med ( loves the
seaside )and Scorpion (but likes company) there. He desires salt and the sea
but I don't see Nat Mur there. He has had lots of warts on fingers in the
past and on his toes that he had removed. He has one now on his right hand
but on the palm. He knows what he wants and sets out to achieve it. He
doesn't suffer fools lightly and his staff say he is very fair with them as
long as no one tries to cross him. If they do he will sack them and make
sure that other local employers know about it. He is very direct but very
generous and works raising money for charity in spare time. He can't stand
injustice. He talked about living by the sword and dying by the sword, an
eye for an eye and tooth for a tooth.
