and so Bob, I suppose you'd consider this therapy *classical* if the patient drinks only one spirit & does not mix a combo-spirit
concoction? :-)

It's classic not sure if it's classical - well off to go freezing at an
auction sale (mabey those spirits aren't a bad idea after all.

Not good to mix turpentine with your brandy, that's for sure..

As to the numbing of pain via internal application of ethanol.. once, long
ago and far away, remembering the TV cowboys of yesteryear & their standard
gunshot-surgery pain reliever, I tried using the standard dose (1 quart
whiskey) as pain reliever for rather severe deep gash at the meeting of the
palm and the base of the thumb -while waiting for the clinic to open so that
it could be stitched up. It worked rather well, but the clinician, with an
apparent vindictive streak against alcohol 'abuse' refused to administer a
local anaesthetic .. giving me the unenviable opportunty to fully experience
the image first brought to mind of cowboy surgery.. I can *NOT* recommend
application of alcohol internally as suitable pain-relief while hand injury
is being stitched up.

Ow-eee.
