Disease names, was tourettes - ideas

No instruction necessary Dave! You've made the point well and frequently. I
was merely trying to say that in making it so frequently and so vehemently,
your perspective was beginning to look a bit unbalanced.

I can see that I was wrong to impute criticism on your part, and I
apologise, but it seemed that way because it wasn't apparent that your post
was addressed to students and onlookers as opposed to those who were
actually involved in discussing the disease condition (who were obviously
not treating their cases on a remedy-for-disease basis). I understand your
concern about students and onlookers, but I did and still do feel that some
balance is needed.

Disease names are useful: they're part of the language, commonly-used
collective nouns to describe a particular group of symptoms. Our
communication would become dreadfully tortuous if every time we wanted to
discuss any condition we had to list out every common symptom of the
illness! Why reinvent the wheel? I make a note of all the remedies that
people mention in connection with certain conditions too -- it's about
pulling together genus epidemicus information, and adding to the materia
medica for each remedy.
