Update leg ulcer

Whether anyone can help now that i have more info i dont know, but thought i'd bring you uptodate in case you can.

We do not get the x-ray results until tomorrow!! However I have now seen his foot. My observation is as follows:

The whole foot is quite swollen (left foot).

It seems as tho he is in constant pain, which he says is an ache, & its < walking, pressure & touch, the pain seems to be over the whole of the left side of the foot, but then every so often he gets a very intense pain which he cant describe & this makes him get up & walk which may help as it wears off & he is able to sit down again. however whether the pain wld go away or not if he didnt get up & walk around we dont know.

When he took the bandage off, it seemed that some skin/ulcer may have come away with it & there was a little blood! so i suppose its possible that it's burst! At least we were able to bathe it with calendula.

This sounds really silly, but to the untrained eye its very difficult to descrbe what the foot/ulcer looks like.
The whole foot, ankle & bottom of leg is VERY very mottled, there are bluish/purple patches, a few red patches, some even very dark patches!! & in between you can make out some flesh!!
its very difficult to tell what colour the ulcer is or was, & ive no idea where the other 2 ulcers are & nor has he!

The ulcer definitely started off below the surface, whether thats still the case or not i dont know, so i dont know whether it had raised/jagged etc edges or not. A few wks ago when my dad started getting the intense pain, the nurse initially said it was because the ulcer was coming to the surface, we dont know if this is the case or not, as last Monday they then said the pain was due to the fact that he had another 2 (3 altogether)! Part of the problem is that he rarely sees the same nurse!!

Before abandoning the ars (30s), I decided to go onto the Ars 200 alt Ant crud 12s regime (didnt have any 6s), before changing to another rx.

Whether any of you can suggest what I should do until we get the results of the x-ray i dont know, but i thought i would ask.

thanks in advance

Shanny,

I would be looking at snake remedies and possibly other venoms with the
destruction of blood/tissue, etc. However, I would try to confirm by
physical generals, behavior, etc. e.g. hot/chilly, thirst/thirstless,
food/drink desires/aversions, senstivities to light/sound/music/clothing,
time modalities, taciturn/loquacious, etc.

As I understand Dr. R's suggestion to you is that the acute issue is the
current stagnation in the tissue. The remedies used may not address this
isssue in a timely manner. Your description is that of blood stagnation and
whatever remedy selected it must clear the stasis and move the blood.
Whether there are additional issues would be evident from a larger clinical
picture.

Aesculus & Hamamelis 4X orally; Hamamilis, Calendula, hepar-s topically; in
oriental medicine we use the procedure of 'plum blossom' with walking
cupping. Plum blossom is a small hammer with multiple pins in its head
which we use to puncture the skin. Walking cupping is moving the cup and
its intention is to draw the energetics to the surface.

My experience with this procedure is that if the condition is severe, as in
very black with leather skin, initially no fluid will present on the
surface. With additional tx body fluid will appear, and with still more tx
blood will move.

Cupping was one of the sorts of medical procedures like blood-letting,
application of leeches, violent purgatives, etc, which led Hahnemann to
abandon the practice of allopathic medicine and develop homeopathy...

Shanny,

Would Pyrogenium help?

How about Medical Leeches?
Check out Leeches USA, Ltd at If you need an emergency order you can call
1-800-488-4400 ext. 2475. Otherwise orders can be called in on
1-800-645-3569 or 1-516-333-2570 or you can email to . Also, "Suppliers of Medicinal Leeches since 1812"
There web site is at; http://www.biopharm-leeches.com/ Info on the best books on medical leeches are at; http://www.biopharm-leeches.com/books.htm I Do Not have any Interest in the above Company.

When I spoke with the manager earlier this year, I recall the cost was $7.50 or $8.00 per leech.
A discount did not occur till quantities over 100 leeches, they primarily dealt with Medical Doctors (surgeons / reconstruction surgeons), and yes they are regulated by the FDA. I think as a Medical Device.
Leech use (hirudotherapy)
From: Caligerm@aol.com
Hi!
I'm not the one you asked to summarize his research, but I can tell you about what I was taught--in brief-- in Russia during a 3-day hirudotherapy training seminar.

Leeches transmit to their host, in the process of sucking, over 200 substances, the most famous of which is hirudin, the anticoagulant.
Western medicine, in recent years, has started using leeches again, but sadly they haven't begun to understand the wide application of leeches in healing--typical of reductionistic western medical thought, they have become stuck on the hirudin and use leeches primarily during surgery to keep a wound from healing too quickly.
In Russia leeches are used for a wide range of problems, whenever the main characteristics of the problem are stagnation, as manifested by: pain and stiffness, worse on waking; amelioration from moving around; inflammation; infection and including sepsis. For thrombophlebitis they are the treatment of choice (and are used in Russia for this condition in pregnant women).
The Russian methodology is quite specific and follows an eastern philosophy.
Leeches are usually first applied on the coccyx (2-3 leeches at a time) on energy (acupressure) points, for the purpose of a general "stirring up" of stagnated energy. After this initial session the patient usually feels much better. Several days later the leeches can be applied locally in the area of pain or problem. 2-8 leeches are used for each session, and the sessions are divided by a space of 3-4 days. The average person undergoes 4-6 sessions, depending on the problem.

The leeches are applied over energy points, and these points are specific for every ailment; at the same time, the leeches are allowed to "choose"
the exact point they desire for sucking, as the Russians claim they seem to know the areas of highest need! Once the leech is latched on, active sucking begins, during which a "pool" of blood mixed with the leech's substances forms under the skin of considerable size. This action breaks up stagnation, setting into motion a domino-effect for the whole body, the effects of which include allowing formerly deprived cells to once again receive nourishment, and initiating a homeostatic effect. It is similar to an acupuncture treatment, only it is a much more extreme intervention. I
had the opportunity to observe leeches in use on patients being treated for lumbago, osteoarthritis, varicose veins, and pelvic inflammatory disease, among others. They are unsurpassed (they say) in treating serious infection, especially when antibiotics are contraindicated (or simply not desired). The leeches usually suck for about 1-2 hours and they fall off when they're "full". At that time they are disposed of by dropping them into a vat of bleach solution. However, in Russia people keep their own leeches at home for their own personal use, because they can live in jars of
water, mustn't be fed (used) more frequently than every 4-6 months (they have to be hungry to work), and they live a long time.

I got so excited about leeches that I wanted to smuggle some back to the USA.
There are 40 kinds of leeches, but only the medicinal leech has all the great qualities discussed above. They are very sensitive creatures, and I heard a story about a woman who had worked at a leech farm for about 15 years, always caring for the same batch of thousands of leeches (as all the farm workers do), when she developed cancer and got quite ill. Apparently her leeches started to get sick too, and by the time she passed away, most of her leeches had, too. They are sensitive to the energies of their caregivers/hosts!!

With all this talk about leeches, my husband and I have decided to organize a lexcursion/training seminar in St Petersburg, Russia for next year.
Anyone interested?? If so, please email me and we'll discuss details.
