abcsess/ulcer

Post by andyh »

(repost to clean up missing carriage returns:)

Rochelle,

Just a few ideas for the hopper:

Is it possible that she has chronic inguinal buboes (these would be
lymphatic tissue inflammations/abscesses),
could be secondary to infection or immune assault of some kind, or could
be “constitutional”. Wasn’t sure if
the “abcesses” were inguinal or on the thighs…I assumed inguinal in rep
below. The differentiation between
an abcess and a suppurating bubo may help some, although some of the
remedies the same. An ulcer would
be completely open, no sac of pus or cavity.
Stedmans 1923 Med Dictionary:

ULCER-A lesion of cutaneaous or mucous surface, caused by a molecular
disintegration of the superficial
parts, attended usually by more or less suppuration. A wound, or
superficial loss of tissue due to traumatism,
is not primarily and ulcer, but may become such if the healing process
is arrested or the wound becomes
infected with pyogenic microorganisms.

ABSCESS-A circumscribed collection of pus
BUBO-An enlargement, usually going on to suppurative inflammation, of a
lymphatic gland, especially one in
the groin or axilla.

Thanks Andy as this sounds like what this young lady has. Unfortunately
there appears to be no rubric which has bubo - groin and axilla. I don't
reckon Abdomen - bubo covers it. However I don't have Synthesis so if
someone could please check that one out for me please?

Rochelle
