I have a patient with a rather distintive black-blue marking on the
front portion of her tongue it rather resembles an ink splash ... any

You are urged to construct a more complete picture of the pt. Likely you will find organ dysfunction and pain and discomfort in a specific region or affecting a particular tissue terrain.

In oriental medicine we view the tongue as a photo album. It is regionalised; assessed by coloration of the tissue, markings, and coating. A color as you describe is interpreted as blood stagnation and where you describe it location would infer either digestive and/or diaphram disturbance. The forward tip is designated as heart lung region.Are these any use?

Jas, at the risk of receiving more lectures, here is an offering -> from my
sources, the clinical significance of purplish or blackish spots on the
tongue is Addison's Disease. The clinical significance of reddish, later
becoming bluish to black subcutaneious blotches on the tongue indicate
haemorrhage in the sub-cutaneous tissues

She has a history of bloating and inflammation in the region of diaphragm I
suspected due to her earlier appearence (like she was of eight months gestation) indicated a disturbance something like pancreatits etc. as her family history is solid with diabetes and blood pressure problems, her mother also has recently suffered intense liver problems the nature of which Pt is not sure or more likely due to her nature she is not willing to think about. Pt displays heightened jealousy, sensitivity to others manifesting as defensiveness and misinterpreting others talk as being about her (criticizing , making fun of her). There are hypochrondical tendencies but I
feel this ties in with her self-esteem /identity issues...
