Hi Tanya
For your travelling kitty, most conventional vets will suggest giving her a tranquilizer, Acepromazine. I do not recommend this for any pets that are travelling unless there is extreme stress and they have not responded to other natural products.
The reason I don't suggest Acepromazine is because there have been studies done that show that although flying is very safe for most animals, 50% of ALL animals deaths in the sky have happened to animals who were tranquilized during flight. Acepromazine causes hypovolemia (lowers blood pressure) and may have contributed to the animals death, according to the study.

I recommend a bach flower remedy: Rescue Remedy. I take this myself before flying if I feel anxious. It's basically for anxiety. Three drops in the animals mouth whenever she thinks it's showing anxiety ...or before leaving the house is the dose. It can be repeated as needed without any side effects.
You can also give the cat Aconite 1M as well if it's really scared. But I usually find Rescue Remedy does the trick in most animals. Once the plane takes off, most animals calm down and go to sleep.
Also tell her not worry about being a bother to other passengers if the animal cries.
I've been a passenger on many flights with a crying child and no one has sedated their kid to assure my comfort.

Another point is just to be sure the carrier is comfortable and large enough to accommodate the cat but also complies with the carry on regulations of the airline.
Also tell her to put lots of paper towel on the bottom of the cage. If the cat goes in the carrier she can just throw out the paper towel and replace it with new stuff.
Best, Jill
