I can't believe it!! I gave a patient sepia a fortnight ago and she had an
immediate increase in energy and back to her old self which lasted a day.
She then started going down, tired listless etc which is what she came with
(NBWS post natal depression 6 years ago). In the last couple of days she has
had diarrhoea - 5 motions today and she told me she has taken Imodion 4
doses which is an OTC diarrhoea stopper!!!! i.e. she has suppressed the
toxins coming out of her body which hopefully would have taken her towards a
cure and the diarrhoea was an old symptom.

Basically now what do I do???? What would you do??
1) leave it
2) give a lower dose of the Sepia to counteract the tiredness that she
feels?
3) Give something homeopathic to counteract the Imodion she has taken
although I have no idea what?

All replies gratefully received as always!!

regards
Rochelle

I would repeat the same sepia dose one time, unless it was a really high
potency like 10m or something, then I would come down. Have her check back
frequently. Don't worry about the imodium. It will pass off.

Rochelle,
You didn't say what potency you gave? How about redosing and explain to her what is happening with the type of reaction she is having. This way she will not be so eager as to supress it the second time around.

I'm puzzling over this...
In my experience, an immediate and dramatic reaction which goes into reverse
*after only one day* seems more consistent with a "close but not quite"
reaction. Each time I've had a simillimum give rise to discharge or healing
crisis, it has taken *at least* ... hm, hard to remember, but I'd say *at
least* 10 days or more, and sometimes several months, and I think there was
always some time (more than one day!!!) of feeling quite good, before the
stirring-up began. I've always thought of it as the person pulling together
their resources before the "major overhaul" begins. Can this really start
after only one day????

I'd love to hear what others have seen in this regard?

You're identifying the requisite artfull character in the application of the
homeopathic concepts. The Right single remedy, at the Right Potency, in the
Right Form of delivery, in the Right Substantive presentation, at the Right
Frequency of delivery, for the Right assessment of Susceptibility of the
patient, with the Right assessment of Integrity of the Automatic Life Force,
will 'cure' morbid manifestations in the most gentle manner.

I believe this to be so. Somewhere between concept and the manifestations
of the vagaries of Life are the elements of 'stress factors'. Responding to
their consequence upon the organism is the attempt to generate a 'protocol'
that seeks 'cure', a relief of morbid manifestations, with the least
aggravation to the organism.

Some physicians are cooks and some are chefs.

Change the words slightly and it applies equally to oriental medicine too.

Have just heard from the patient who says that after the Sepia 30 she began
to perk up and has now come out with a streaming cold!!! I explained that
since she suppressed the toxins coming out at one end they are finding their
way out through the streaming nose!! She promised she will not suppress it
and in fact said that she was going to go out tonight as she feels so good.
When I asked when she last had a cold she replied that she doesn't get colds
so I explained about the Vital Force etc.!!! I obviously gave the Sepia too
high with the 1M!!!
Thanks for all the correspondence on this one.

Good for you!

I think that with the tripple potency you gave initially, you did jar up
the Living Force into a reactive mode, which is just swell. This is
great news and congratulations. Did she pluss the dose?

So, Isali, do you have an opinion on what the "one good day" followed by
upheaval might mean??? In my experience, for *most* patients and most
situations, the remedy is *very* forgiving; for most patients, there is a
range of potencies that will act will (tho probably one that will act the
best), and the remedy can be given all sorts of ways (did anyone save some
*very funny* posts of Julians and others' from Lyghtforce, about weird ways
remedies have been given -- AND WORKED? Including, from memory, as an
eardrop, in the bathtub, in hot coffee, in beer... Roger Morrison years ago
remarked that, if you have the right remedy, "you can sprinkle it between
their toes, and it will still work". :-) ) If a patient is
hypersensitive, extremely ill, or etc., then of course one would need to be
more careful. But usually, IMO, it's just not that delicate!

I'd love to hear whatever folks can remember about *their* cases that
developed discharge, healing crisis, etc., what the context of those was?
(I.e., how long it took to develop, etc.?)

Terrific, Rochelle!
I am tucking this into my "experiences" hat, and look forward to hearing how
she does!
